Mine has to be #40, the first time that the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn reveals his origin of how he became to be and the first time that Spidey beats him too.
What is yours?

Hi GreenGobbie, Welcome to the Corral!
I liked the issue where Doc Ock unmask Spidey in front of witnesses and they wouldn't believe one word of it! Ironic how that plays out today in Civil War.
Hey GreenieGobbie!
Welcome to the Comics Corral!

Hi Greenie. Welcome to the Corral! My favorite was #39. The very last panel was a real shocker for me at the time. If I could pick a second one it would be The Spectacular Spider-Man #2 (magazine format, painted cover). The Green Goblin was one b.m.f.

I can't remember the issue number. I can't remember what the story was about, or who Spidey fought. But I'll never forget when Mary Jane walked in and said "Face it tiger. You just hit the jackpot."
Indeed he did.

My favorite is #5. I'm a big Dr. Doom fan, so it's no contest.

I believe that the issue she appears in for the third time is this one #42 (this actual pic, the other two times you don't see her face #25 and #38).

Many good ones are already taken but I'll throw in ASM #20 1st appearance of The Scorpion!

Issue FOUR when they went monthly and our teenaged Angstmaven fights equally with his brains as his brawn and he meets Betty Bryant for the first time
Second place was ASM SIX with the Lizard, a much better Jeckyl and Hyde adaptation than the Hulk.
There were NO bad choices. I'm just glad now that Amazing Adult Fantasy was canceled and Stan Lee's uncle let himself be talked into throwing away that origin story in the final issue. Ticked me off at the time 'cuz I really like those stories.

#15 is another good cover as well as a good story (1st kraven) I love the 60's story line much better than what's being written in todays books.

Amazing Spider-man #31 is neat because it is an all round cool story and Ditko is at his prime.
Amazing Spider-man Annual #1 is awesome because it is the first Sinister Six and the pin ups of each villian throughout the story are awesome. To be honest, as long as we don't have a reprint, I am an annual junkie.

Lot's of lover for #39 and #40 when Romita defined the Goblin, but you gotta ove #14 for Gobby's 1st appearance, even if he rode a broomstick.

It's not a single issue, but the Master Planner story arc of ASM 31-33 is to me the best Spidey story arc in the history of the comic. It truly has all the elements of a classic:
1. Aunt May on death's doorstep(remember this was early in the comic, they hadn't done this 10 million times and turned it into a lame shark-jump plot device)
2. Peter is especially desperate because HE caused her illness (he donated some blood to her and the radioactivity made her sick). So let's add a bit of guilt to the plot!
3. Return of a Big-Time villain: The only thing that can save dear old Aunt May is stolen by some dastardly villain called the Master Planner (later revealed to be Doctor Octopus!)
4. The cliff-hanger of all cliff-hanger endings at the end of ish 32!
5. The pulse-pounding scene where Spidey uses all his will and strength to overcome an impossible situation and lift tons of machinery off of himself!
And can ya beat these covers?

42 was already mentioned. It is my favorite. I also liked 101 just because 6-arm spidey is cool to me for some reason. (And I like Morbius.)
46 is my other favorite. I always liked Shocker even though it looks like he's wearing mattresses.

HI, first time on this forum, this struck my eye cause I was 5 or 6 when I switched from SUperman and Popeye, Hot Stuff ,etc... and found SPiderman #4 on the stands ..WOW ...
I am partial to the lee-Ditko issues , and I agree with others here #33 is the most dramatic issue ...
BUT as far as if I could ONLY HAVE ONE ISSUE of SPiderman .. it would be #3 with the book-length Doc Ock story and fantastic moody art.

Wow! Nice books Grinder!
Aside from the CA #captainamerica# question... I can easily come up with my favorite ASM and I 'd have to say #6 as well. (Now THAT'S a lizard Jimjum!)
I just think the cover is one of the all time ASM greats (along with many of the mentioned others here...) but the story is just so cool!
You're terrified of the Lizard but sympathetic as well.

My favorite issue has become #19. I have a graded 7.5 copy that I have bee trying to sell for the last year, with no success!!! You know if you keep something around long enough it begins to seem it's part of your surroundings and eventually you feel you would miss it if it wasn't there. Yeah right, still wish I could sell it for a reasonable price, oh well.

Can you believe it, I just sold Amazing Spider-Man of Comic Connect for $200. I'll take that it only cost me 12 cents and less than $20 to get it graded. Very satisfactory profit, any big corp. would like profit like this.
