I like it. I didn't collect Tower of Shadows or any horror during that time so this is like new stuff for me.

I remember that story very well, mordo. I was really into DC's mystery line, so when Marvel started their books, I was ready for them. I bought this one off the rack and thought it was great. A promising start, but the follow-through wasn't up to par.

Steranko was amazing; his stuff still holds up today. I was blown away by his Nick Fury; Agent of Shield stuff.

Pasnat, back then I was obsessed with the superhero titles. My sister collected everything else, horror, funny animals, Archie, etc... I still enjoyed the other stuff, but not to the same extent. It was in my latter years when I started to appreciate the other genres.

Every time I read this story, I can't help but marvel at the genius of Steranko. Definitely one of my favorites. Too bad they didn't use his cover for the comic.

Still regret selling the OA cover to that issue (I can post a scan if any OA aficionados) - Romita did the work but it really blended well with the interior Overall a great comic series, too short-lived!

The original Steranko TOS cover blows the Romita one away!

And if you live in the Boston area, Steranko will be there on Oct 21st.
I'll be there with my 30 comics to get signed :-)

You must have raided my collection over at my parents' house, stu. Your Steranko collection looks just like mine!

Of course, since his output was comparitively limited, and anyone who like Steranko wanted all his work, I bet everyone's Steranko collection looks the same!

Those X-Men and Agent of Shield covers he did were just about the coolest I've ever seen on any funny book!

You're so right about the limited output. I think I have every comic (except the 2 Romance ones) he did interior pencils on. I don't usually collect covers only so there's only a couple like that in the picture.

Do you think he'll sign the Strange Adventures # 216 in there, even though he had nothing to do with it? :-)

And that red one in the bottom right corner is "Steranko: Graphic Prince of Darkness". It's a kinda limited edition Bio comic book, with a double gatefold cover. The original TOS # 1 cover is one of them, I'll have him sign that.

And the one under that one is this one. The cool thing about it is that it's a double cover error!

Aside from his art on Cap, that story is my favorite work Steranko ever did.

I agree! His awesome work on Cap is really what stuck in my mind over the years, though

Awesome stuff there guys. Steranko is my favorite artist. I own probably as much as you. I've got just about the full ST stuff and only missing 2 X-Men a Nick Fury and some Doc Savages and Shannas to have all of his from the SA and BA

That's just it Mariner the orginial cover was not even by Steranko.....it was by John Romita. Not a bad cover mind you.....but the Steranko one would have just been a better choice IMO.

Here is the cover by Romita for TOS #1
