Ok.. the last one was too easy so I hope this one will keep you all guessing a little while longer.

We'll keep CG's old rules for now but keep in mind that I don't always play by the rules and I'll happily morph a city, use a fictional city, a literary description, or just show somewhat famous landmarks for you as clues.

One guess per post then someone else needs to guess again before you can guess again, after each 10 incorrect guesses I'll consider tossing you a clue.

Glasgow...LoL!

Heh.... I'm not that mean, at least not this round. I'll post another photo today if we get two more guesses.. and I don't think I need to tell anyone that these are nothern hemisphere ruins.. and you can safely eliminate the Americas.

marvelguy

Evil Parsnip
06-24-2007, 02:43 AM
well here are two clues... the first is the photo.. the second is a popular comic book letter...

X ..... make of that what you will.

any chance one of you mods can change the size limit of the photos I'm uploading? It's a pain condensing them to fit the limits on the uploads... especially since every time I do it right the thing says it's too big.

Hoss

You can try it now doc. I have set the image size to the maximum setting. If the images still do not work, you may want to upload them to photobucket or some other off site host. Sorry about the pains to upload those!

It's just a wild guess, Xylotymbou?

Evil Parsnip
06-24-2007, 03:24 PM
Thanks Hoss.

It's just a wild guess, Xylotymbou?

*LOL* now that is a wild guess... and X is a clue, not a letter in the city name....

Maybe I made his one really hard.

I'll give a clue on this every five guesses from now on....

cairo

Evil Parsnip
06-25-2007, 04:46 PM
Well the guesses are pretty good.. but since we're stalling how about another clue.

the name of this country has vowels in it... no? not a good enough clue? Well I'll toss you something a little obtuse...

This Roman city is north of another city, whose ancient name is the same as a modern east coast city.

There are actually three clues in there. I'll offer another photo sometime soon too.

Evil Parsnip
06-26-2007, 02:18 AM
a couple more pics to help

and Trenton is a surprisingly good guess for the ancient name of the city just south of this one.... not right.. but within 400 miles.

Evil Parsnip
06-26-2007, 02:24 AM

When it comes to ruins, you've seen one, you've seem 'em all.

Evil Parsnip
06-28-2007, 01:19 AM
Ok.. I'm gonna simplify this one. I'll just start throwing out clues.. and I'll try to make the next one a little more search friendly.

Here's what you have so far.
Roman ruins,
North of a Roman City with the name of a modern American city
X
there is a arena which is currently used by "Roman" Legions
the ruins are extensive.... very exensive.

and it's not in the Americas, Africa, Antarctica, or Australia.

and it's not an island.
Its not a major city but it once was.

Evil Parsnip
06-28-2007, 01:20 AM
And I'll offer 200 karma, um... vbux, um... my best wishes if you guess the American city..and I'll aknowledge that city... then it will be a piece of cake for anyone who can use google.

Evil Parsnip
06-28-2007, 05:59 PM
Nope.. not anywhere in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan or Lebanon.. nor Quatar, Baharain, or Kuwait.

Evil Parsnip
06-28-2007, 06:00 PM
and you can eliminate anything south of the equator too.

Evil Parsnip
06-28-2007, 06:02 PM
and for the American city (which you are welcome to try to guess) eliminate anything in FL, or ME.

habib

Nope.. not anywhere in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan or Lebanon.. nor Quatar, Baharain, or Kuwait.

How about Turkey.....

marvelguy
06-28-2007, 08:40 PM
Tuscany? As in Tuscan?

Evil Parsnip
06-29-2007, 12:52 AM
Well.. ok.. eliminate Turkey too...

and the American city is on the East coast...less than 100 miles inland (I don't want it to get too easy).

marvelguy
06-29-2007, 10:22 AM
Ummm.....is it Syracuse?

Evil Parsnip
06-29-2007, 04:45 PM
Nope.. South of Syracuse (for the US City) and not Roman Syracuse either....

Evil Parsnip
06-29-2007, 04:47 PM
Today's Eliminations.. Libya, Tunisia, France, Monaco, Spain, and Saudi Arabia..

marvelguy

fulltimer56
06-29-2007, 09:35 PM
And I believe that the American city would be Philadelphia, right?

fulltimer56
06-29-2007, 09:35 PM
MG,

X also stands for Phi which is the first three letters of Philadelphia!

Linda

MG,

X also stands for Phi which is the first three letters of Philadelphia!

Linda

Wooohooo!!!
Congrats Linda you got it!!!

X also stands for 10 and Jerash was part of the Decopolis, a league of 10 cities with trading and political ties....

Was that one too hard?

marvelguy
06-29-2007, 11:13 PM
I guess I sort of helped Linda in a way. Congrats, Linda. Now, that was a hard city to guess, even with all the clues. Good job, Parsnip.
