I haven't seen a thread like this around here so I guess I'll start one here.
For this auction, it's the complete set of House of M comic books. I thought it was over with and just about everybody got one, I was wrong. Here's the link:

Now that the auction is over with, somehow I felt that it was unusallly high. I beleive there's some shilling going on based on the winner's new id that was create the same day. On the other hand, there's plenty of the other books to go around for cheap on Ebay.
 $380 dollars for the whole thing? Ugh!
Well if it were shill bidding, then that is funny. You shill bid, win your own auction and then have to pay the fees.

It may be shill bidding, or it may be the variants. I've been watching some of the variant auctions lately and people are willing to pay insane amounts of money for one. It's like the 90's all over again....

I don't know about the variants but I paid a dollar for a Joe Mad #1 House of M a couple months ago. Can you beleive that?

Another variant book that goes very high is the Wolverine #145 Nabisco variant. I don't know how many of these babies were printed but go to the completed search on Ebay and you'll see some that goes for $200, mind you, these are not just one issue, lots of issues from different sellers.

Ah, see though...
Creates the perception of high demand (see how much my last batch sold for...).
Possible offer to second highest bidder (this guy would pay more, but...).
Cheaper to pay the fee than to lose money on the auction (make it back on the second listing).

$50 for this?! If that's the case I've got about 15 or so of these stashed somewhere! Woot! I'm in the money!

I was looking at some Civil War comics on ebay to see how well they are doing. the variants are doing real good but this book has caught me by surprise. It's the Marvel Spotlight w/ Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. There were 3 books w/ $9.95 with a bid each and another for over $10.00 w/ 3 bids already. Kinda odd for a book that isn't a comic book. It's not touted as a tie-in but it does in a way.

Hey MG you got a link to one of the auctions? I haven't been following Civil War, so have no idea what issue you're talking about. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that stain!! That is what I mean about "that book".
And I can't sell a VF/NM or better comic for .50 and he/she is asking for 9.99 just to start!!

If it sells, scrape an old coin across the cover and list it for $9.99! #creep#

Hmm.....can someone explain this high price on this auction to me?
Other than a pissing match, what could possibly drive the prices up?

Seems that there's a die-hard fan who's been bidding on those books. There's one with BIN by the buyer who also bids on the other same books.

DC Spotlight #1, the first appearance of Watchmen in 1985, way before the first issue hit the stands in September 1986.
