Ok.. this is a highly experimental game which I thought of while trekking though the jungles of Borneo so it may work.. it may not. However I thought it could be kind of fun.

I'm gonna offer you three musical clues - and by musical clues, I mean I'll offer you three artists, songs, lines from a song or an album title each of which will give you a clue to what character I'm thinking of.. and you need to figure it out..

so an easy example using song titles...

New York State of mind,
Let Em Dangle,
Climbing the Walls...

Clearly, a New Yorker, who dangles them, and can climb walls.. thus ???

Yeah.. Arachnid Boy! you guessed it. Ok.. maybe I was thinking of Spider-Man but so were you!

of course I could make it a lot harder.. by having gone with Billy Joel, Elvis Costello and the Backstreet Boys.. making you try to figure out if the ablum, song name, or a lyric is the key. That way I can offer clues along the way.

Anyone interested in trying to play it?

Ok.. I'll toss two characters at ya here.. both Marvel

The Clues for #1 can be found in the music of:
Cliff Richards
Manowar
and Al Stewart

I think this one might be tough.

and this one #2 should be fairly easy....

America
Brittany Spears
and the Thompson Twins

Have fun.. and yes.. I'll offer clues or tell you if you are on the wrong track with songs/lyrics if you ask.

Hellcat and Ghost Rider.

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 01:22 AM
Wow.. I'm impressed you got the one I thought was the harder one!

Hellcat of course was right.. care to enlighten us on the songs? and the why? or should I do it?

Ghost Rider isn't right though.. but you've earned the right to ask for a clue - or if you are on the right track with a certain song or lyric.. so shoot.

marvelguy

The answer to #2 is Fenris?

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 02:26 AM
Nope.. tell me one of the songs you are looking at and I'll tell you if you are on the right track.

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 02:34 AM

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 02:35 AM

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 06:58 AM
Nope.. not wonder woman.. a male character.

what track are you thinking along...

mordo
07-27-2007, 09:25 AM
I was stuck on Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Separate Ways World's Apart" or whatever that Journey song is called. http://www.comicscorral.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

Evil Parsnip
07-27-2007, 04:13 PM
Ok.. toss those songs.. that's not the right track.. this one might be a bit tricky...

but the song you might want to think about is on Money's Greatest Hits album...

Evil Parsnip
07-28-2007, 05:45 AM
Ok.. a couple of Clues..

For the DC character.. the Song I'm thinking of is Eddie Money's Walk On Water

for the Marvel character.. the America clue is found in one of their album titles.

marvelguy
07-28-2007, 08:22 PM
For the DC character...Aquaman?

For the Marvel character...Captain America? This is just a wild guess, I can't figure this out.

America
Brittany Spears
and the Thompson Twins

Have fun.. and yes.. I'll offer clues or tell you if you are on the wrong track with songs/lyrics if you ask.

Okay, I think I got this one.

America album you are referring to - You Can Do Magic
Thompson Twins song - Doctor! Doctor!
Brittany Spears - I went through all the discographys I could find and read her wikipedia entry. I couldn't find anything. Then I thought, man, she is really a STRANGE one!

Answer: Dr. Strange??? http://www.comicscorral.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

and to the DC Comic.. think about a Journey title..
and the artist for Welcome to the Real World.

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:14 AM
The next marvel character -

The Shangra-Las
Aerosmith
Billy Joel

and a second marvel character too..

Santana
Pat Benetar
Absence of Fear

mordo
07-29-2007, 07:37 AM
and to the DC Comic.. think about a Journey title..
and the artist for Welcome to the Real World.

Journey title - Escape

Welcome to the Real World artist - Mr. Mister??

Would the DC character be Mister Miracle?

(thus explaining the Walk on Water clue.)

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 02:01 PM
Arrrggghhh....you beat me to it. My memory is being refreshed with all these titles and names. I was getting around the Mr. Miracle part.

So what do you guys think of the game? Does it work? do you like it? does it get too easy if I offer clues like this? Or should I try to add more musical clues rather than artist, song title answers when you need a hint?

let me know.. you still have those two marvel characters in the air if you need a mental struggle.

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 06:34 PM
I like the game, EP. It is new and yet hard (well, in this case I know rock from the 80's on up). This is like charades with album titles, artists or songs.

As for the other two Marvel characters, the first one is the Human Torch and the second one is the Silver Surfer on account of "Smooth".

Just guessing!

mordo
07-29-2007, 06:38 PM
I like the game too. I don't know why, but it kind of reminds me of suduko.

Actually wrong on both counts. The song isn't "Smooth" but actually I'll give you another Santana hint.. "Evil Ways" certainly applied to this character at one time..

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 06:46 PM
Well with the internet - and the ability to track diskography even if you don't know the music or artist you can find plenty of clues.. and the answer isn't usually too hard once you eliminate a few things..

As to suduku - I actually see the similarity with a pencil and some thought you can always figure it out.. although some of the answers might just as well apply to several characters.

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 06:46 PM
I like the game too. I don't know why, but it kind of reminds me of suduko.

Hey, it does feels like playing Sudoku what with the elimination of guesses and second-guessing. I'm a suduko nut myself.

Hmm.......sounds like Wonder Man.

Like suduku you can't really make wild guesses.. but if you tell me why you are guessing Wonder Man (by which I mean the logic of ALL THREE clues), I'll give you another hint.

mordo
07-29-2007, 06:57 PM
The next marvel character -

The Shangra-Las
Aerosmith
Billy Joel

Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic?

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 06:58 PM
Same deal - tell me your logic and I'll offer a hint since your guess is wrong.

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:00 PM
Wonder Man was a baddie once thus the Evil Ways clue.

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:02 PM
yep.. that's true. but all three clues have to apply..

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:07 PM
The Black Cat?

mordo
07-29-2007, 07:11 PM
Same deal - tell me your logic and I'll offer a hint since your guess is wrong.

Shangri-las - Leader of the Pack
Aerosmith - Rag Doll
Billy Joel - grey hair like Reed!

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:13 PM
For the Black Cat clue..

Santana - Evil Ways
Pat Benatar - Crimes of Passion
the third one - well, it speaks for itself

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:14 PM
*S* a swing and a miss! nope. Come on.. I know you can get this. You guys are good..

write down the name of the artist, write down album titles by said artist, and the songs which you think are possibilites depending on the clue that should trim down your likely list down considerably. then think about they what ties these together..

like with the Mr. Miracle one...

Mr. Mister
Escape
Walk on Water (which of course was a famous miracle - although I thought about giving you smokey Robinson as a clue)

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:16 PM
Shangri-las - Leader of the Pack
Aerosmith - Rag Doll
Billy Joel - grey hair like Reed!

You are right with the first clue.. - leader of the pack.
the other clues are a little more oblique..

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:19 PM
For the Black Cat clue..

Santana - Evil Ways
Pat Benatar - Crimes of Passion
the third one - well, it speaks for itself

Ok.. we'll Santana is Evil Ways plus another Santana song which kind of defines the Evil Ways...

The other answers are not what I was thinking..

but he're a clue...

look at the Santana diskography - and the artist of Absence of Fear and see if you can put it together!

mordo
07-29-2007, 07:28 PM
How about Prof. X ?

Shangri-las - Leader of the Pack
Aerosmith - Come Together (Humans and Mutants)
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire (Humans/Mutants conflict)

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:33 PM
How about Prof. X ?

Shangri-las - Leader of the Pack
Aerosmith - Come Together (Humans and Mutants)
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire (Humans/Mutants conflict)

Yes!! I would have taken Cyclops on that one too with the logic being

Aerosmith - Angels Eye..
Billy Joel Stormfront or in this case Storm Front

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:34 PM
I'll toss two new puzzles up once you figure out the other marvel character.

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:35 PM
So the answer is Cleo?
The Dr. Strange character?

Absence of Fear - Jewel
Santana - Supernatural
Pat Benatar - Wide Awake in Dreamland????

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:36 PM
Hey, put some hard rock clues while you're at it.....heh..heh...

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 07:41 PM
nope.. not the Pat Benatar song - and while supernatural applies it isn't the clue you NEED to solve the puzzle.. which you'll still find in the Santana diskography...

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:46 PM
Black Panther?

the heat of the night?
africa bamba?

mordo
07-29-2007, 07:46 PM
So the clues are "Evil Ways" and "Jewel," and supernatural applies too. Just gotta figure out how Pat Benatar fits in...

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:52 PM
Juggernaut?

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 07:54 PM
Gem of Cyrratak - Jewel
Crimes of Passion - Pat Benatar (Prof X being his step-brother)
Supernatural? - power of the gem to be invincible

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 08:18 PM
Well you got the answer right.. but I was thinking of the Santana song "Brotherhood" and the Pat Benatar song "Invincible"

Good Job.. 2 more later in the Day

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 08:32 PM
Gee, I got my clues wrong but not the correct way to guess it. I didn't see Brotherhood on the album "Supernatural".

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 08:40 PM
I never said it was on the album supernatural.. just that it was part of the Santana diskography

mordo
07-29-2007, 08:49 PM
Juggernaut is a good guy? He's Prof. X's step-brother? I didn't know that! http://www.comicscorral.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_surprised.gif

Evil Parsnip
07-29-2007, 08:51 PM
He's apparently reccently converted.. I hear he joined excalibur..

marvelguy
07-29-2007, 08:52 PM
Oh yeah, Juggy has made his peace with Xavier a while back, I can't remember which issue that was.

So are some villians that has reformed now that you have only 198 mutants left in the Marvel Universe.
