I love to search the Internet for pictures of old movie/tv filming locations to see what they look like today. I found this one, and I wondered if anyone could guess what this place is and what was filmed here. Good Luck!

Jurassic Park?
No. Much earlier than Jurassic Park, but I'll bet that just about everyone on this board (in the U.S. at least) has seen the scene in which this place is featured. Although somethings are missing (which would give it away), part of what is missing is still there. (How's that for mysterious? Maybe I should move this to the Forum Games section?):p

It looks like Castaway without the sand, since you said it was eariler, I'll guess Days of Thunder.

From Here to Eternity?
This one Was later than From Here to Eternity, Would estimate about ten years after.
I can tell you that it Was a film, not a tv show and that nearly everyone Who Was in it is now dead, not everyone, but nearly everyone.
Also the scene Which Was filmed here Was sort of the big payoff for the Whole movie.:D

The clues so far...
It's a movie, not a TV show, that probably everyone on this board has seen. (At least in the U.S.)
It's set in California.(This scene is at least)
Some objects used in the scene are gone, but some remain.
One of the stars of Gilligan's Island Was featured in the movie.(but not in this particular scene)
Earlier than Days of Thunder, but later than From Here to Eternity.
Just about everyone Who starred in this film is dead, but not everyone.
This Was the big payoff scene.
There may be a couple of other clues sprinkled about in my Writing, but What could those be?

Is that the "Big W" from It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World?

Ah ha! Shadow-Wolf got it! I guess I used too many big W's in my clues!
The site where I found the current picture claims that the other three trees have been knocked down by storms over the years since IAMMMMW was filmed. The trees were not in a park but in a private residence, so I guess the home owner decided he didn't need a big W and didn't replace the trees.
Congrats to Shadow-Wolf, he wins as a prize 350 thousand dollars! All ya got to do is go there and dig it up...it's there waitin' for ya see, it's under this Big 'W', a Big...."W"...

I gotta admit, I have never seen this movie. It has been on TV so many times that it started later. I cannot start to see a movie in the middle whenever it's on.
