I'm having a hell of a time converting AVI files into DVD format. I've done many Google searches and read a ton of guides about it. I've downloaded a couple programs that are supposed to be "one click" converting, but none seem to do it.

Anyone here that can point me in the right direction? I'm up for reading guides, although I've probably read most of the first few pages from Google searches. Maybe someone can give me a quick walk-through? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks! I was hoping for something other than Nero, but it looks like I have no choice. Have you ever used it, James? Does the converted file(s) look decent running on a DVD player? Any audio problems? Lips not moving in sync with the audio track? Now to find a copy.

It works great. Where you have to be careful is the files you are converting. If they start out as crap, they are still gonna end up as crap. For a decent dvd, both audio and video, you should expect your AVI to be like 700-900 megs in size.

hmm...so what if it's a 50 minute video? My files are at 350mb for 50 minutes. Good? Bad? Just ok?

That sounds about right. You still probably won't get true DVD quality, but it will be perfectly watchable. Once a dvd is ripped into an avi, you lose some quality right there.

Are you talking about copy of a DVD uploading to a video file and then copy it again on another DVD? If so, then that's Nero, I've heard about that at work. It's great, I've seen some copies myself.
