I posted this over on the ebay board too!

I just had a buyer email me and ask how much one of my listings would be shipped to Canada! I almost drop my teeth when I saw how much the USPS website show shipping would be for 5 pounds to Canada!! http://forums.ebay.com/db1/images/emoticons/shocked.gif

Express MailŪ International ~ $30.25
Priority MailŪ International ~ $21.20
Priority MailŪ Flat Rate Box ~ $23.00

Is there no other way to ship to Canada now? I know that Airmail has been stop but D*MN!!

Linda

Do any of ya'll know of a cheaper way to ship to Canada that I'm not seeing? I'm going to go to my local post office and see what they have to say about it!! Them totals are just out of this world!

Nope. The rates changed in a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig way recently. I used to send everything Airmail to them Canucks, but that is out the door. For 5 pounds of stuff, you can't do the new International First Class. It is gonna go Prioirity or Express, and that's it.

Thanks, James!! Yep, that's what my local post office told me this morning!! I just can't believe the prices. Lord, I feel for our fellow collectors overseas!!

And there is no way I can get that lot under 5 lbs either!! Oh Well, I don't think I'll be getting a bid from that buyer!!

I don't know how some of the other sellers that sell overseas can ship for that $10.00 or $15.00 they are charging unless that's just for ONE comic!!

There is one other way its First Class International. Its the cheapest rate to Canada and on 5lbs will be probably around $14-16 or so. There is no way to ship cheap anywhere outside of US anymore at all.

OH yeah James is right didnt see that. IF its over 4lbs you are out of luck. Pull out the boards and find a lighter box and maybe you
can make the 4lb limit.

I gave a guy in Australia a shipping quote yesterday. He wrote back and said "You've got to be kidding" thinking I was trying to screw him. I emailed him back again and sent him a link to the quote I was getting at USPS just to prove to him I wasn't. I'm betting he isn't going to bid. It will cost more than twice as much to ship the damned thing as the price of the f'n comics. USPS has screwed me out of a lot of international sales.

It's not comics, fastball! It's novels and without the box and packing they come to 3 lbs 15ozs! So there is no way I can ship under the 4 lb limit!!

BTW that bidder DID put in a bid on the auction!

More comics will be staying in the US, I guess.

Looks like the trend is reversing where back then the dollar was weak, the other countries has been snapping up our Silver Age books leaving the good ol' USA.

BTW, in regards to USPS prices to Canada, does the other parcel companies offer lower prices than the one USPS provided? DHL, Fed Ex and UPS are those examples.

I'd love to hear about an alternative shipper to Canada as well! If another company could offer reliable service at even a slightly lower cost they could do a lot of business.

With the old rates, USPS was always cheaper. With the new rates, I suppose anything is possible.

Now its entirely bad news. A flat rate envelope is only $11.00 so you can get about 8 books with some cardboard in there so that is a viaable option. Canada is only $9.00 as well.
