I showed possible interest for this auction only because of the grade he claims it is in (VF+). Price is too high, though.

I asked him for larger scans of the book.
His reply was as follows

Sorry for the dealy. Here is a scan of front and back. I would rate this comic as Fine minus. Off white pages.

I emailed him back and said

No thanks, I'll pass.
Your auction states Very Fine +, that's why I showed interest but experience taught me never to trust a seller's grade.
Now you know why.
You are exhibiting fraudulent selling practices, I suggest you change your description on the auction from a VF+ to a F-.

He responded with a

With over 1000 satisfied customers I think I am doing just fine. Keep your comments to yourself thank you very much.

So I sent him a

Hey, no problem.
I thought I'd give you some fair advice about the potential problem you may run into by selling a book you advertise as VF+ but is in reality is only a F-.
Next time I won't give you advice and let you fall prey to your practices.

Stay away from this guy, folks!
That's THOMINCA on eBay.

Now I simply await another response from him.
Maybe I'll email this link to him!

You could always use the "Report" button at the bottom of the listing and quote his e-mail in the report.

eBay buyers don't need sellers like that.

Looks like that isn't the only book he overgraded. From his feedback:

found a flaw in one book...seller refunded total plus shipping immediately! A+

OK, I guess, but I didn't expect to see 2 tears on back cover in a "VF+" book!??

Just like comic-keys, maybe he waits to see if he gets complaints? That must be a profitable way to do business, I guess. Another ethically challenged eBay seller.

By all means, send him this link!

I thought it was pretty entertaining, too! Apparently not all of the eBay comics board regulars agreed. Pussies!!

The funny thing is I love motorcycles. But assholes with superloud pipes? Not so much.

My dad is the real bike nut in the family, though. He's probably owned over 50 bikes, but that was mostly as a young man in England (Nortons, Vincents, Triumphs, etc.); only a few since I've been alive. Now he's old and fat and doesn't really ride anymore, but he's got a nice little 1972 Suzuki Water Buffalo he's working on rebuilding (gives him something to do).
