Some of you may have been reading the "Harley Riders" thread that bnwflix started over on the eBay Motors board. Well, it's been asserted that my caustic commentary on that thread may lead to some unwanted spillover to the other boards on which I like to post, specifically the Comics board and also The Corral.
While I truly doubt anything will come of it, I just want to apologize in advance for anything nasty that ends up on this board. And if you haven't read the thread...

Thanks for the apology.
I am sure it will be fine here, whether your biker friends make an appearance or not.
I think you guys are way out of control though. I hope you realize that you are all doing exactly what you railed against Snooty/Hadro/Pickled etc. for doing.
As for bwnflix, all he has prooved is that he can be as big an a-hole on any other board as he is on the comic board.

I glanced on several pages of it. I DO love a good flame war. This wasn't one!
Looked like a battle of wits with the other side completely unarmed.

Actually it's different because snooty/sodapop spammed the entire eBay Comics Board with several threads that said nothing but the same one or two sentence b.s. over and over.
In this particular case with the eBay Motors thread all of the vitriole is limited to one or two threads and does not disrupt the flow of the board itself. The regulars over there can choose to ignore it, which many apparently do, while the snooty threads were numerous and nearly overwhelmed the entire Comics Board, thus making it demoralizing and difficult to ignore.
Another difference is that the bnwflix thread has an actual give-and-take "conversation" going on while snooty/sodapop seemed to be oblivious to most of what everyone was saying.

The M.O. is not different though.
Both have used the lowest common denominator of an intent to piss people off. That he (bwnflix) also intentionally set out to insult people in order to do so makes it an even lower denominator. That others were willing to jump on the bandwagon and make is a coordinated insult-attack is simply amazing to me. And all done with such glee.
I agree with the post from the "dyke" (nice) on the ebay-motors board that said that the whole exercise was pretty pitiful.

And now, feel free to remind me of my April Fool's Fiasco...
Granted, it upset people, but the intent was not to piss people off, but to make them question my sanity (as well you should) and ultimately, to make people laugh.

The bnwflix thread was not a coordinated attack. I don't know about the others, but I participated when I read things I found distasteful and it was further fueled by the anti-comics sentiment that was evident on many of their posts. Just because we are comic fans doesn't mean our opinions are invalidated and that they can push us around. (That's what was on my mind.) It takes two to tangle, and we are all responsible for our individual actions. The members of the eBay Motors Board therefore can't be looked at as being blameless for egging us on.
As far as the April Fools Fiasco goes, that was indeed a coordinated plan if there ever was one. I'm over it now but whenever I think about it, I admit it leaves a bad taste in me and I don't really know why.

I do think it was a coordinated attack (by bwnflix). He started the first thread of his own volition, with the intent of disrupting (trolling) the ebay-motors board. He claims he had a "legitimate gripe" of "pet peeve" or whatever, but the threads on the comic board make it clear that it did indeed quickly become a coordinated attack (whether individually or en masse). When things got ugly, he posted another thread to make matters worse.
He might as well have said, "Let's go kick some ass over on the "Cooks Nook" board!".
I don't hold it against you (Mordo) or anyone that you felt compelled to respond when things got nasty on the biker's part. That's human nature. But the fact that bwnflix instigated the whole thing as some kind of non-chalant "let's go piss off the bikers" game seems very mean-spirited. Just like 90% of his other posts.
And that of course is just my personal take.
I'll let it go now, because first of all, it's really not that big a deal to me, but I had to speak my mind about the matter here rather than there and second of all because this kind of excercise in personal attack is what keeps me away from the ebay boards in the first place.

I guess this just underlines how different our senses of humor are, CG! (Which is fine, of course.) I hated the AF joke, but find great humor in baiting barely-literate bikers.
It might have been before your time on the boards, but one of the best threads ever was over on the Book Readers board - "Reading While Driving". I'm proud to say that I really got those guys going with my persona of a BMW-driving-while-comic-book-and-novel-reading condescending know-it-all (wasn't much of a stretch, eh?). The incredulous responses and eventual insults (I'm a baby killer!) were classic message board flaming and MOST of the comics board regulars got a kick out of it.
But to each his or her own. As far as this one goes, I'm pretty much in agreement with Mordo. I really dislike people putting down comic book readers, too. Talk about petty!

Oh, and of course bnwflix is kind of a bitter asshole - but he's OUR bitter asshole and I'll defend the bastich when he's attacked outside the board! (I don't mean on here, but on eBay)
(edited to add parenthetical clarification and parenthetical editing note; man, it's hard to type "parenthetical"!)

It might be wise to collectively remove the Comics Corral clickable from the bottom of any FLAMING posts before posting them. Just a thought, guys!

I thought about that and am of two minds about it. I concluded that even if there was some "pollution" over here due to my rants, it wouldn't last long, plus there was the chance that one or more level-headed comic book lovers would see the link and check out The Corral. We need some more posters, don'tcha think?

Yes, we do need more posters here but how? What else can we do to improve upon this site? A new web page? Freebies? We did that. What do we have that others don't? Questions, questions. There has to be that "something" that brings people in. Like that saying in "Field of Dreams", If you build it, they will come.

Hiya folks!
Long time, no talk.
Only one thought on this topic at the moment - some people on the eBay boards seem to have this take of "Our board" and "Their board".
Sometimes people forget - the boards are simply eBay's boards (as eBay is so fond of reminding us when they suspend members.)
This whole notion of not going to someone else's board or being afraid of someone coming to "Our board" is just silly since, although you may choose to be a regular someplace, you don't own the board and it's not some private club. And it's not like venturing into some other gang's territory - it's cyber-space.
Excepting genuine trolls or spammers (who deservedly should be "run out of town"), the boards are open to everyone who is a member of eBay and I think people get too clique-ish once in a while when they start worrying about who's board is who's or some imaginary exclusivity factor.
P.S. Is there any way to enlarge text views on this board? My "view" button has no effect on the text here and it all looks extremely small.

Hey Captain!
Welcome back!
All your points are well taken (by me anyway).
Not that you or anyone else should care, but I feel I should make clear, I choose not to post anymore on ebay mainly because almost every time I do, I experience some form of auction interferance or sabotage. Must be my breath or something.
As for your comment of "you don't own the board and it's not some private club. And it's not like venturing into some other gang's territory - it's cyber-space", I must admit, I do feel like it (the ebay comic board) is a "private club" when it gets to the point where a new post by a newbie or "outsider" is met with rude, obnoxious, condescending or down-right insulting remarks by certain regulars. That happens to me literally every time I post there too. Again, that's probably just my breath too...or maybe the fact that I'm just as big an a-hole as anyone "over there".
Am I thinned-skinned when it comes to such behavior by some ebay regulars? I guess I am.
Bottom line would be "to each their own" I suppose...
Anyway, forget my tender feelings and my own rude, obnoxious, condescending or down-right insulting remarks, and I'll just say welcome back to the new Corral.
Please make yourself at home.
