I bought thirty-six Charlton Gems from this guy in the third week in November. To the tune of $100 with shipping.
I was beginning to wonder where they were, but not stressing, due to the Holliday shipping scene and the number of books.
But today I figured I'd check in on his feedback again and I see this:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=comicsross&ftab=AllFeedback&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:SFS&frm=1883
That's a big ol' "Whadda-Ya-Gonna-Do?", ain't it?

Bummer Man.Don't know that I have seen anything like this before.
It may sound kinda cold but you may be able to file an Item not received with Paypal(if that's how you paid) and get your money before the account gats cleaned out.But do it fast.

Is this what happens when feedback reaches 2000?

Hmmm? It's especially a bummer considering that the feedback states that the seller died on November 23rd, but he was still bidding and winning auctions on November 22nd. Must have been sudden. #shifty#

I'm going to hang in there for a few days while I try and contact next of kin. :?
If it does seem legit, I'll just have to write it off. No getting around that (ethically).
And yes. I did pay via PayPal, so a chargebacl is an option, one way or another, for up to 60 days I believe.

I saw that too, so yes, I do have my doubts.

No action at all though buying or selling since then so......who knows??
Maybe an email to comicmanshipper to see if that is true since comicsross seemed to only purchase from him? Seems he might possibly know the situation.

Comicmanshipper is a member of the Corral. Perhaps he can shed some light on this?

Actually this DID happen to Pooser and I once. We left the bad feedback before his family contacted us (which was a long time later) but they explained what had happened and they were trying to sort out all his transactions and finish them the best they could. We ended up getting our stuff and we were very grateful to his family. We left them our condolences and revised the feedback so I guess it really does happen...eBay is powerful but not eternal. Good luck CG.

and yes it was quite sudden
i did speak to him on the phone 2 days earlier
we were talking about finally getting together and meeting in the coming New Year
we have been dealing for so long with each other!
and always wondered what it would be like to meet each other finally
and he was telling me
how he was looking forward to receiving his next box from me
as it had some great books
he truly loved comic book collecting
he told me every box he received from me was like a Christmas Present
it now makes me feel a bit better
that i brightened his days with my comic books
he did tell me he was in and out of not feeling well over the last year
but this was totally unexpected
he will be missed!
this really shook me up
so young
live life to the fullest everyday
and can i ask one thing
please do not smear his good name on Ebay with negative feedback
it truly would be a shame to mark this man's name
God Bless You
Ross!!

Strangely enough this sounds like a Charlton comic plotline... didn't I read about this in one issue of "The Ghosts of Doctor Graves" ?
but that still sucks.

That sucks for you, CG.
Reminds me of the time I got shafted for a house many years ago (no, this was before my divorce so this doesn't include the house-shafting I also got from that).
My ex-wife and I purchased a new house closing April 23rd.
We purposely closed the sale of our old house April 30th so that we had an entire week to move.
Well, wouldn't you know it....the buyer of our old house was killed in a car accident on April 25th and (apparently) he didn't sign the paperwork at his bank according to his lawyer so we got stuck paying for two mortgages.
Moral of the story...it's only $100. It could be much, much worse....

I would never think of it.
I simply chalk it up to the twisted soap opera that is my comic collecting life.
I am sorry you lost a friend.
Best regards,
C.G.

Somehow I missed page two when I first posted.
That story is sad indeed.
