Hi, Happy Wanderer. Welcome to the boards!
I've never thought about that before. It's like fresh minty dollar bills you get at the bank with all the serial numbers in a row, you don't want to break it up. I wonder if the guys at CGC inspect one package at a time or they have different inspectors looking at the same package. If they do have different inspector, more likely they'll have different numbers.

Welcome to the boards Wanderer,
As for series of books submited there are quite alot in numerial series like you had asked & people who pay good money to have them that way as well.
YES, MG if I'm not mistaken and you can check on the CGC boards to verify but it goes in order that the books are received and depends on the tier of books submitted, moderns go super fast as where books from 40's to 60's can take some time. That's why it might be easier to just out right buy the books from some one if it doesn't break the bank then to send them in unless you have a great deal of time on your hands.

I don't doubt it.
There are also people who get up 5-10 times a night to re-check that their doors and windows are locked, people who wash their hands every five minutes and people who go through extensive daily rituals to ward off bad luck. It's called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), but now there is hope... :)
Ask your doctor about Gitovaritt, a new pill from the makers of F**itol. Side effects may include, itching, watery-eyes, nausea, diarrhea with constipation, heart attack, kidney infection, blindness and bad breath. #cloud9#
So if you have OCD....start living again. Gitovaritt, you've got better things to worry about. ;)
Welcome to the Corral Happy Wanderer, it's all in good fun! :D

I think what Stu was getting at (corect me if I'm mistaken Stu). is that when it comes to CGC grading of Modern books, not only wouldn't sequential serial numbers make a hoot in hell difference in the value of said books, but that such "high-end" (as in 9.4+) grading of books that were so MASSIVELY overprinted also makes less than a hoot in hell difference in the value of said books. Especially when such 9.4 to 9.8 grading is so obviously arbitrary and STRONGLY biased towards repeat and "sanctioned" CGC submittors.
About five years ago, I purchased a huge collection from an LCS in Rochester, NY that was selling out of the comic biz.
Amongst the 20,000+ books were TWO FULL LONGBOXS of the Miller Wolverines. The vast majority of them were bagged with multiple copies in a SA size bag (about ten or so per bag).
They were immacualte, unread copies.
I sold the majority of them for a buck a pop at my local flea market.
These Miller Wolverines are STILL a dime a dozen. Regardless of what CGC has to say about them, regardless of what grade CGC deigns to give them.

Points taken but if you look at some prices that people are getting for slabbed books it's unreal. And for a series of 9.4+ LS Wolverine people would sell what they could for a complete series. I don't understand my self but I've seen people even at comic shows go to the ATM for money to buy runs of x-men-batmans #blahblah##blahblah# just to have these books in slabbed form. It's sad but true & the CGC board actualy has a forum about high grade runs of books people own.
And I wasn't being facetious toward stu..............

I am always shocked when someone pays more than a buck a book for that Wolverine mini series. I have to laugh every time anyone pays more than $40 for a Hulk #181 too. That has to be the most overpriced book in the marketplace ... that and most CGC books.

Happy back!
Sorry to get off on a CGC rant...these are great books.
C.G.'s advice?
Find an inexpensive set of F/VF copies to read and enjoy.
And a NM+ set will find you when you least expect it.
Probably from some nut selling 'em for a buck a pop at a flea market...
Best regards and welcome to the Ol' Corral,
C.G.

I have to say that most of my personal collection has never been read (don't know why) I'm a fan of cover art more than a story & most have been sitting in mylites & in a box for some time.
I just never got around to reading 3/4 of these and I'm sure marvel loves me for this as well.
I'm hoping one day to just start buying OA Covers which be in my price range.

You put more thought into it then me, CG. I was only saying that that is one of the most retarded things I have ever heard, and I thought I had heard it all in regards to CGC. I think JDB was closer to what I was thinking :-)
