Anybody checked out this series? It has great reviews on the net. It has sold out and Marvel has said they will not go back to press for this one.

It's odd that Marvel does go to 2nd printing whenever a book sells out. I got the first issue pulled already.

Well if the demand is there that is the only way they can make more money. Once the books are shipped to the distributor(s) there is no way a publisher is going to make any more money.
Sell out is nothing to be impressed with. Marvel could well have got only 20K orders for this. If they had printed 100K or more and the distributor had come to them for more I would be impressed. More than anything it is a marketing tool. Saying they sold out creates interest which can translate into sales of the second printings they make.

There must have been some stronger than expected demand for this book. Marvel is going print it again after a reversal of sorts.

I'm hoping JMS can finish out the series since he's quitting Thor.
On the other hand, I wonder if Walt Simonson can come back on Thor. #popcorn#

JMS is like Kevin Smith to me.
I will never buy another book from either of them off the stand.
I loved the 12 and killed me when he stop writing it. I dont care what the excuse
they need to live in the real world where they are consequences when you sign
contracts.

My understanding is that since JMS is no longer exclusive to Marvel, that it might be quite some time before The Twelve limited series is finished. It makes me wonder if possibly it might not ever be completed? :?

JMS is doing some work over at DC on the Red Circle line. Same format regarding Golden Age heroes, I guess.

Seem interesting. Just ordered The Twelve 1-8 from Lone Star. Hope it's as good as everyone seems to think it is.

I bought "The Twelve Spearhead" today (haven't read it yet).
When I first saw it in the shop I immediately thought it must be the latest issue of the seemingly ABANDONED series.
Since it's a #1 issue with a different title it had me baffled.
So the series is still on hold (after what, almost 2 years now?), but instead of completing it they come out with a new "companion" title.
I know, I know, they want Straczynski (sp?) to finish the story, but if he's indefinitely indisposed, why not hand it off to another writer and let somebody finish it instead of producing companion books for a limited series that may never see completion?

Just finished reading The Twelve Spearhead.
Decent read, reminded me why I liked the series (and I liked that there were appearances of other G.A. characters & members of the All Winners Squad & Invaders).
The best part was the last page showing the cover of "Issue #9" with the words "Coming soon!"
Now, I swear I saw that same ad over a year ago touting that the main title would be continuing shortly.
