you buy comics at a show or convention for your personal collection even if they look good?

I was just wondering because I bought a lot of comics last weekend at Heroes Con and was wondering if I should change the bags and boards or in some cases add boards to the ones without?

I believe it's all in your personal preference.
I keep all my comic books individually bagged and boarded.

Many of my bags and boards need to be changed every five years or so due to the humidity level of the area I live in added to the fact that both the INCO and Falconbridge Smelters in my fair city emit tons of Sulphur Dioxide in the air which is a comic book's worst enemy.

Although I keep the books in a dark room with a dehumidifier, I still find the bags and boards get attacked by the open air.

Changing these tend to get costly over time so I'm dabbling with the idea of using MyLites2 and Fullbacks for my valuable comic books.

Remember, many GA collections have surfaced over the years where the books were not "bagged and boarded" yet still retained much of their high grade status anyway.

Your call, Linda.
Whatever you are comfortable with.
I guess it depends how you store your books.
Will they remain perfectly intact without boards? Without bags?

I usually switch the bags and boards on books I buy at shows because they usually need to be changed. Especially bin books.

This is more for eye appeal than preservation because I like my stuff to look new...

Very soon (saving pennines right now) I am going to be switching ALL of my KEEPER stuff to 2 Mil Mylar sleeves because the ones that I have still look really good after 15 years. See I know this guy HOSS, he sells supplies and stuff cheap, just ask I'll tell you how to find him.

AARRGGHH!
I'm not so lucky.
It's hard to find a good price on these Mylar/Gerber supplies in Canada.

I'm with Gary. I'm in the process of moving over my personal collection into Mylars. I have about 2000 in now, quite a few more to go.

Thanks, Guys!! All the comics I bought are in bags and a lot of them were boarded too. I have been going over them and the almost all of the bags like and feel new and so does the boards that are there. The only trouble I'm having is the boards I have don't fit the bags that the comics are in. So I guess I'll have to change the bag only comics to my own bags and boards. Does that make sence to you? (Hoss, where is that spell checker??)

I have this problem with the bags and boards. I use BCW brand B&B, one hundred each pack. When I use them, the results is that I end up having 5 or 6 boards left. This is the same for the last 5 combo packs. I have enough boards left over to start a bonfire. I wonder if the bags were short or too many boards. I didn't count the B&B since there were so many books to organize.
