This looks VERY interesting, since I'm a rabid drooling fanboy over horror stuff. I'll check it out :-D
Not to be stupid...but is MAX a separate umbrella company under Marvel?

Wow!
Corben does Lovecraft...
This one looks like a must.
Check out that splash! Amazing!
It looks very sweet.
That being said, I'll probably wait for a hardcover. I have the Edgar Allen Poe one they did I think this one will look pretty next to it on the shelf.

This does look sweet, I ordered it from Previews last month.
And yeah Sterling, it is a seperate imprint, but not always that far from the 616 Marvel. It's when they want to do something a little more adult, sometimes with established Marvel characters, sometimes not. Garth Ennis' Punisher is Max, the Nick Fury series where he swears all the time and screws prostitutes, etc. It pretty much is out of "regular" Marvel continuity, but I hear that Kick Ass is going to crossover in some way?

Corben and Lovecraft (talk about purple prose) have always been guilty pleasures of mine. I'll check these out.

Is it going to be B&W, because one of the best things about Corben's work is his color.

But this just may be the first modern I'll buy at our local LCS ever.

Classic Corben. The B&W artwork harkens back to his late 70's Underground stuff (his Underground stuff was his best work IMHO).
Three stories (7 pages, 10 pages, 8 pages), a couple of short textual stories by Lovecraft, and a couple of "cover sketches" by Corben.
The artwork is stark, detailed, and in your face. The Lovecraft stories are pretty much pared down to almost nothing (textually), but stick to the feel of the original short stories. It's Corben's art that tells the tale here.
A great book. I look forward to the next two.
