View Full Version : EW.com's 20 Worst Superhero Movies Ever
I just noticed this list and I thought some of you might get a kick out of it. I haven't heard a lot about many of the selections, and maybe that's a good thing!
Here is the link. (http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20186843,00.html)

Good list, except Daredevil. While I agree about the fight in the park scene (What's that all about?), I think the movie is most underrated. The battle between Bullseye and Elektra looks like it came straight from DD 181. And while I'm no fan of Ben Aflac, I thought he looked the part of Matt/DD. Only Robert Redford back in the day would've been better. Why does everybody hate this movie?
I liked DD as well. Maybe I have no taste, but it takes a lot for me not to like a movie...Hulk, FF 1 and 2, Punisher...I enjoyed all of em!

Also, how bad can the Thomas Jane Punisher movie be? I confess I've never seen it. And how could the original Punisher movie NOT be on the list? And how could Supes III not be on the list? Its worse than IV.

Oops, cross post. I forgot about Hulk. I would've stuck it on that list, but I understand a lot of people like it. It seems there is no middle ground with that one. Love it or hate it.
Yeah, I would've left FF 1 off the list. Neither a good nor bad movie, IMO. I actually liked FF2 quite a bit, as did my 4-year-old daughter. She was hooked throughout in the theater. I was quite proud.

I really liked the new Punisher movie. Oh well....to each their own....
Ok....after taking a look through the list, I gotta admit to liking most of those! Barbarella?!?! C'mon! That's classic stuff right there!

An excellent list. I've heard of all of them, but managed to avoid the majority.
Some of them have redeeming qualities; Tanya Roberts running around naked in Sheena...
Well, that's it. But some of them weren't too bad. The Thomas Jane Punisher was soulless, kind of a TV movie sort of thing. Lori Petty just doesn't have the charisma to carry a movie. I haven't seen Daredevil, but I'm really not that interested. LOEG was a disappointment for the exact reasons they cited.
Every movie named probably belongs on that list, and if I pondered a bit, I could think of others they missed.

Daredevil is definitely underrated. Roger Ebert said of it - it's a very good movie...this far (fingers an inch apart) from being a great movie. I walked out of the theatre and thought it was excellent. Ben Affleck made an fine DD. Punisher was decent. I even got a kick out of the original which I had at one time as a bootleg....wonder whatever happened to my copy??

You said it all right there. I remember seeing Beastmaster in the theater when I was 15 or 16. I was on hormonal overload when she appeared in that river. That was (and I guess for the most part still is) one gorgeous woman.

Yeah, and it's kind of sad to see her hawking Las Vegas vacations on informercials now. "You'll get a two-day night stay in our fabulous facility, tickets to one of the Strip's hottest shows, and an interminable sales pitch from a near-psychotic salesperson!"
I only saw maybe two episodes of Charlie's Angels in my life, but she was my favorite. Farah who?

Supes 3 is horrible, I tell you, horrible! Hollywood needs to learn a lesson not to insult the audiences.

If you haven't seen the 04 Punisher you should watch the "extended cut." I liked it. I really dug Mark Collie's little cameo as the guitar wielding bounty hunter. MUCH better than the Dolph Lungren version.

That scene rocked. Favorite in the movie.

I really loved the Punisher movie with Thomas Jane. I don't know what these guys who put the list together were smoking.
On second thought, I wondered why Jane decided not to do the new Punisher movie. I hop it doesn't suck.

There's no way that Barbarella was worse than Howard the Duck.

I don't even see how Barbarella is considered part of that genre. Also, I just realized something. How could Flash Gordon not be on that list in front of some of the others that were?

Hulk should be on the list. Not only is it a bad super-hero movie it a terrible movie in general. Freaking godawful. Ranks up there with HTD, Superman 3 and 4. Just brutal. The only consolation in the movie is being able to look at jennifer connelly which is probably why this movie did not make it to the list.

I agree about Jennifer being the only thing worth watching Hulk.

Sorry guys, but I thought the Hulk movie is OK! It wasn't the greatest that's for sure but it was the worst either!!
I go into every "Superhero" movie I go to with an open mind and most of them do OK. I have seen some that could had been way better but hey, to each their own I always say!!

Too bad they're only listing theatrical releases. There were some pretty... interesting TV movies. Not bad, but weird.
Anyone remember the JLA musical? How about the Dr. Strange movie?
And The Spirit, starring Sam Jones and Nana Visitor, was pretty lame.

I actually have the Dr. Strange movie on VHS. To me, who happens to be someone who tends to like most superhero movies, it was a little on the boring side until near the end. I guess I was disappointed that there wasn't much in terms of special effects. I do, however, like the Doctor Strange animated movie.

I finally saw the 2004 version of Punisher this weekend, albeit the cleaned up FX channel version. I thought it was pretty good, certainly not worthy of worst movie status. I was surprised to see all of the Ennis elements in the movie.

Punisher was not poorly done but the theme has been done to death in movies so since it was just a run of the mill revenge movie it gets low ratings from most people. They could have done more to dress it up.
