This is the start of a thread dedicated to the White Mountain Pedigree, one of the earliest and highest quality silver age pedigree collections. Back story to come. Here is an example...

Here's another example...the White Mountains often have the last two digits of the year marked in pen on the cover. Many also have the date stamped on the splash page.

With this latest haul from NYCC (really missed you BTW) I think I cracked the 50 mark in less than a year. I tried to post all my books yesterday but the website was running slow so gave up after the TTA #35. I'll try again tomorrow night when I get a chance.

Very few White Mountain copies ever show up for sale. Actually from the run of #1-66 only a half dozen have ever been graded and the rest could be anywhere. Here is one of the ones that have surfaced, X-Men #9

Brad

cgc-world
10-08-2008, 05:03 AM
Brad: It is really hard to say...probably but I don't think I could say that definitively. It is possible that somebody who bought them when they were sold in large lots through Sothebys in the early 90's could have more. For instance the entire Daredevil run is non existent. None have ever been graded and I've never heard of a raw version showing up for sale. Same story with the Tales of Suspense run, other than issue #39 which is a 9.6 book.

Jim

Yes, I hear you. You know.... if you called Mark Haspel, he might be willing to give you the total number of White Mountain books that have been graded. Might even let you know how many Marvels and DC's. That certainly wouldn't be an invasion of any collectors privacy.

I asked him once about the totals for the Green River Collection... and he was very forthcoming. Heck of a nice guy too, and since you know him..... :)
