Am I the only person who reads and enjoys these books?

My two all time favorites are;

The Avengers Battle the Earth Wrecker

and

Captain America The Great Gold Steal

These are prose books. I enjoy the heck out of them. They're publishing more of them with both Marvel and DC Heros

I have an Avengers X-Men trilogy, an Avengers Thunderbolts book, a Captain America book to name a few.

Any body else read these things?

I've read the book they did on Kingdom Come and really enjoyed it. I've also read a Spiderman book, but I can't recall the name of it. FRom what I remember, I think I enjoyed it. :P

I have some of the pocketbooks from the 1970's and early 80's and I remember enjoying reading them.

I'll have to search for a copy of that book! Otto Binder is (was?) a decent writer.

I did read "The Rise of Sun-Tzu" or something like that recently, written by Devin Grayson. As with many of these type of books, what works for comics doesn't lend itself well to novels, and I found myself distracted by the multiple usages of the same techniques.

On a side note, it has been interesting to see the evolution of Peter David as both a comic book and novel writer. He's always been great for humor, but over the past 12 years or so his plotting (for novels) has become much more sophisticated and he uses a variety of techniques. At the same time, I find myself enjoying his comics work a little less. Is there a relation? I don't know.

While not exactly a superhero, I enjoyed the Conan paperbacks published in the 70's by Lancer, many of them featuring covers by Frazetta. These contained some of Robert E. Howard's pulp fiction work and some new stories by authors like Lin Carter.
