Cool news as this is my fav Marvel title.

"Runaways" is the latest Marvel Comics book to get the big-screen treatment from Marvel Studios.

Brian K. Vaughan, who co-created the series with artist Adrian Alphona, is writing the adaptation, for which Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will act as producer. Vaughan is also a co-producer and writer on ABC's "Lost."

I love that they're getting Vaughn to do the script.

Marvel Studios continues to impress.

This will be interesting. Although it was a great book, one of the few superhero titles I followed, it has zero recognition among non-comic book readers.

Iron Man at least had some context. You may not have heard of him, but you might think, "Oh yeah, he hangs out with the Fantastic Four and Hulk and those guys."

Runaways has none of that.

Uh-oh. Just thought of a way around that.

Sigh... so who will Miley Cyrus play?

There have been a handful of movies based on comics that didn't have the recognizability of Iron Man.

Hellboy, The Rocketeer, Men In Black. Heck, you could probably even throw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles out there. They achieved a measure of success despite most people not even knowing it was based on a comic book. It could happen.

You're right. You could add Stardust to that list. (I liked it anyway.) As well as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, Road to Perdition and others.

That gives me some hope. I didn't even know Men In Black was based on a comic book until well after it came out.

Not quite as bad as Hannah Montana, but my first thought was they'd try and stuff Dakota Fanning in as Molly.
