While looking for an altertanitive to feebay,bidville,(#4 in listing activity) was looking to be one of my choices. The are closing down and suspending operations next month.
Here is their announcement:

Must have been the seller's boycott.

In my admittedly warped mind, there is only one potential challenge to the Feebay monopoly, and that's Google.
Until Google steps to the mat and launches their own auction site, all of these tertiary auction/selling venues will continue to crash and burn.
The pisser is that Google is taking their sweet time about it.
But I would bet that they already have the hardware and software for an auction/selling site in place.
What's stopping them from launching it is anybody's guess.

I saw the bidville announcement today as well, kind of a bummer considering they are one of the contenders. I see no real alternative to eBay.

Its always been Google's ball to run with. Probably a backroom deal with Ebay to stay out of the arena.

There has to be some kinda contract between the two companys (google & ebay)
Because why in the world would someone with that kind of power not step in and take some of what ebay has going for them..

I have been looking at all the others and the one that struck me with the most potential is ebid.Real auctions or bin and worldwide exposure.Right now a lifetime subscription is $49.The real kicker is NO listing or fvf fees EVER.They have been around since 1999 and look pretty solid. Not as streamlined as feebay but still accesible.(Gawd,I sound like a commercial)
Will probably take the plunge.Has anyone here had any dealings with them?

That's my thinking too.
If there's a potential conspiracy, I'm all over that...#oldie#

I've used bidville a bit.
Never really used it a lot but still found stuff there every now and then.

I've bought on Bidville, but it was difficult to search for comics. The categories for comics were so confusing. Anyway, I'm sorry to see them go. There seems to be fewer and fewer viable alternatives to eBay.

Why doesn't Google roll out an auction platform?
They already make a TON of money off of eBay.
eBay pays for eBay listings to show up in Google search.
eBay pays a LOT.
It's quite possible that it's enough money that it just wouldn't be worth it to compete, if competing meant losing that revenue.
