I was sitting here adding in some coins into my database and wondered how many here have other collecting habits besides comics? What else, if anything, do you collect?
As for myself, I collect coins, first print hardbacks of Steven King and Anne Rice novels, I have an almost complete collection of Italy and Italian colonies stamp collection up to 1960. I also have a strong showing in German and Russian stamps. I collect Jerry Rice rookie and memorabilia cards. And I top that all off with gemstones and jewelry. Keeps me pretty busy!

I collect comic books. That's it. No coins, no stamps, no sports stuff, nothing.
No action figures, no original art, no Slurpee cups, nothing.
Comic books. That's it.
Unless you count MST3K tapes - but I don't collect them now b/c I have all of them :-D

I collect comics books for right now. I used to collect stamps long time ago when I was a wee lad. I have a few Marvel action figures but not "collecting" it since it can take up space very quickly. Last Christmas, my wife bought me a metal detector and I went crazy over it. Later this fall, I will be using it over parks, ballfields, etc.. Who knows what may come up? I read in a treasure magazine that someone found a "slave tag" that slaves used to wear back in the day, that went for like $25,000. You can find rings, coins, Civil War stuff. It will be a fun thing to do.

Books!
Lots and lots and lots of books. Old books (preferred), new books, first editions, ephemera, atlases, old newspapers, broadsides, poetry, sci-fi, history, biography, novels, periodicals, you name it. If it's printed I collect it (and sell it) and enjoy it.
The book collecting goes pretty much neck and neck with the comics. I see no real division there, in the end, they are both significant printed matter to be cherished and enjoyed.
So yeah, I occasionally mix up T.S. Eliot and Ezra Pound or Kesey and Pynchon with Kirby and Lee, but what the hell, it makes for a well rounded personality. #creep#

"Civil War" stuff??? You get sketch variants with that metal detector of yours?
Come on, that was kind of funny.
Other than comic books I collect military "Challenge coins" , my wife has a closet with 20 some odd years worth of barbies collecting dust (I keep trying to talk her in to selling so I can get more comics) and pretty much anything to do with captain america; ie. figures, coffee mugs, pez dispenser, toys.....you get the picture.

You name it, I collected it. Coins, stamps, cards, vintage paperbacks, magazines, books, toys, bottles, cans, etc., etc. ad nauseam. I was such a packrat before I got married. I've gotten rid of most of the stuff, but I still have most of my comics.

Comics...that's it.
Life's too short and too busy to collect anything else for me.
For example, I worked all day today, came home at 5PM and continued laying pavers for a lockstone walkway in the backyard, then played hockey at 10PM to 11:30PM. Now I'm home typing this with my heart still pounding.
Then back to work at 8AM.
Typical day.

I inherited a boatlaod of stamps from my Grandpa. Luckily he kept good notes/ID on them, so they were easy to identify, when I put them up for auction on Ebay :-D Got some good money for a few of them, he actually had a few rare(er) ones - bought comics with the money - Gramps wouldn't mind.
Any two-dimensional collectible is boring to me - stamps, coins, sports cards, etc. You look at the front. You look at the back. Wow, 30 seconds of fun

I collect the old MAD magazines, paperback 007 books from the 50's and 60's, used to collect matchbox cars but i sold them to a buddy when I needed new high hats for my drumset and I used to collect matchbooks but I gave my collection to a kid so he could keep doing it. I pretty much collect anything thing old and superhero or disney though...figures or pictures or movies of them. Oh yeah, a few comics too.

Hmmm... I think for me, the best question is, what don't I collect!
Comics (even Manga  ), Anime videos, sports cards, barbies, hotwheels, books (especially college text books), gemstones, jewelry, beads, and Japanese stuff like handpainted china, trinket boxes, and swords...
What's worse is my kids are collectors too.
My oldest daughter collects comics/manga, chopsticks, hairsticks, and bangal bracelets.
My son collects bottlecaps.
My youngest daughter collects stamps.
