Recently, I've got a run of F.F. 170 something to 180 something. I read thru the whole thing. Man, does it rocks, the story flows into the next book after book. It really is good, it is fast paced not like the slow, decompressed, TPB route stories. That's the comics I grew up on.

Yes, me too!
In fact one of my first FF books was the story arc about the Frightful Four with the Brute, Counter-Earth's Reed Richards.
Then there were the Salem Seven.
These books did rock!

I actually thought that period was one of the weaker ones in the FF mythos, but I agree that it beats the pants off of a lot of today's material. Waid had a FANTASTIC run on FF (lol!) but I'm just not a fan of JMS on anything other than his own characters/reworks.

I liked the run from around 205-215, which included a Galactus, Sphinx and Terrax arc. Even H.E.R.B.I.E. shows up. Of course, I'm remembering this through the eyes of a 12-year-old, so I don't know if I could go back.

Those early Byrne's were indeed excellent. IMO, Byrne's main run, 232(?)-288(?) tied Lee/Kirby's for creativity and imagination, if not sheer grandeur. The title really went in the crapper for a LONG time after that.

Agreed. A couple of my favorites are 'Terror in Tiny Town' (I think this was the title. It was the 25th anniversary special) and the issue where the lonely kid burns himself emulating the Torch.

I sold all my FF comics back early part of last year. So what I'm going to do this time around is buy the TPBs and I'm reading and collecting the UFF!

I've never been much into the Fantastic Four. Not sure why.

Just never floated my boat. Maybe I should check out some of these stories.

I've gotten into Marvel Team Up from the first run and the stories have been pretty good. Maybe it's the period.
