View Full Version : Scariest Movies of All Time!
What movies have you watched really shook you up? I love horror movies, but most movies now really aren't that scary.
Some of my favorite scary movies are Poltergiest (that one scared the mess out of me when I was little) and the Exorcist.
Modern movies that are scary is a little harder to say. I think that the Ring was pretty creepy.
What are some other truly scary movies?

I watched Black Christmas with Margot Kidder, back when it first hit the TV in the 1970's, when I was a little kid.
It scared the crap out of me especially considering I was home alone at the time watching this movie that I thought was a Christmas story.
YEEESH, naive or what?
I can say the same about Phantasm. It scared the heck out of me at the time.
I watched it once again a few years ago but it didn't have the same effect on me. In fact I thought it was pretty lame.
The Thing by John Carpenter starring Kurt Russell is still one of my all-time favourite suspense thrillers. It's a classic "What if...?" in my mind.

The Thing was an awesome movie! The special effects still hold up pretty well by todays standards. The original Halloween movie is still one of my favorites. Then there's the first couple of Friday the 13th's. Great gore in those movies.
I'm a big fan of M. Night Shamalan (sp?) movies. Re-Animator is another good one and I liked John Carpenters Vampires.

I really liked John Carpenter's "The Thing", it stayed with the orignal story WAY better than the one that was maded back in the 50's and I sleep with the lights on for a week after seeing it. I didn't much care for John Carpenter's "Vampires", it just wasn't that scary to me.
The TV show "Trilogy of Terror" got to me, mostly the last story of the show "Terror of the Doll"! Hell, I had nightmares about that one!!

How could I have forgotten about The Thing?! That is one of my all time favorite movies!
Another great scary movie is 28 Days Later. I know it's not really zombies in the true sense, but it was pretty dang good!

When I was a kid it was Amityville Horror, Aliens, Dracula (the 70's version) and Phantom of the Paradise freaked me a bit. Now adult wise....hmmmm, nothing much scares me anymore.....I loved the first Evil Dead, Pumpkinhead and American Werewolf in London. The Twilight Zone movie had a few starts in it. Hey...want to see something scary???
