Anybody else loving this as much as I?

After 2 issues it's far superior to FC in pretty much every aspect.

#1 was a great setup for the story with both Superman and Superboy Prime.

#2 was full on story! I loved the first half of the book with Mordu and the Legion of Super-Villains.

The Rond Vidar/GL sequence was great. The young Brainiacs reacting to over 30 Brainiac.

Sodam Yat making it to the 31st Century? Interesting. Why can't Ion help find new Lanterns?

Perez art has been great!

Love it! Love it! Love it!

Agreed, this is the best of the FC series, my only complaint with it is that they've given Superboy-Prime some of the lamest dialogue I've ever read. "I'm gonna burn up your stupid town and then rub you stupid nose in the stupid ashes...stupid!" :-?

I'm also interested in FC: Superman Beyond, but find the 3-D aspect distracts more than it adds. :(

The rest of the Financial Crisis series need to get the heck on with the story and stop screwing around, $3.99 a pop is too much to spend on series that don't go anywhere fast! And speaking of series that are going nowhere fast, there's Secret Wallet Invasion from the other guys...

I kinda thought the dialogue for SBP was done on purpose.

He's claiming to be Superman but the character stil acts and speaks like a boy. A whiner at that.

I think they do it this way to continue to make the fans dislike him so the eventual 'redemption' will be that much better.

'Cause you know they're not going to kill him. DC's all about redemption these days rather than killing a character and letting the speculation begin on when they'll be back.

I haven't followed the Legion for years (mid-80's I'd guess), but I picked up a couple of the recent Shooter books, and was kind of interested in this title as well when I saw on the shelf. Will I be able to read it independent of the other Crisis related materials, or will I need some background?

Yes, I think you should be able to read this one without having to follow the other LOSH or the other FC books.

Yes, it can be read independently of both FC and current LOSH books.

As yet it's not discussed why there are 3 Legions (continuity issues in DC) nor has it had any real tie in to FC and with only 3 issues left, I'm sure it was just a marketing thing to pull in people that probably don't buy Legion regularly.

Well issue 5 finally came out and it was a pretty darn clever ending.

And that's a word I rarely use for moderns.

I thought it was both a great ending for Superboy Prime and a glimpse into the future of the Green Lantern Corps.

Anybody else read it?

The ending, in regard to the fate of Superboy-Prime, was classic pre-Crisis DC.

Although I loved Perez's artwork and the fact that the book seemed to get off to a good start, I didn't care for the ending.

It didn't really resolve or explain anything. It was another case where the story gradually became more and more convoluted with multiple realities, that it didn't seem to matter how it ended.
So what if one Element Lad (or whoever) died when there are 51 other variations of the same character?
It never exlplained why there are 3 Legions (as opposed to 52 or 3 billion for that matter.)

I was hoping, as always, that the mini-series would tie up some loose ends in the continuity department and help make the DC Universe a more simplified place that's open for clear, concise & well-done story telling instead of keeping it clouded and cluttered up with concurrent recurring counterparts & complicated concepts.

Oh I wasn't expecting anything that would actually resolve Legion continuity coming out of this series.

But of all the possible resolutions to Superboy Prime, I thought this was pretty good/funny.

Need to find out which issues I need of this. I havent been to an LCS since I went mail order. So aside from getting books once a month, I forget to order limited series too often.

That's why I get previews every month.

It's less than 2$ and is really a great catalog.

I posted this months ago on the eBay board, but did anyone catch Perez's poke at Liefeld in issue #1?

You have to be able to read Kryptonian, but it's easy to decipher from other areas where it's used in the book.

Hint: it's in the Superman museum - Perez pays homage to several past Superman artists (including himself), but is clearly making fun of Liefeld's "talent" with what he draws. Unfortunately, part of the drawing is partially obstructed by a text box or bubble - I'd like to see it in it's original, unobstructed form!

Or if you have a cool LCS you get it for free! Those mail order guys don't give you a Previews? That sucks.

Sadly no.

Not DCBS, at least.
