Just curious.
Most of the eBay sellers (including myself) have talked about opening an internet store at a different web site, ie Wagglepop, Bidville, ecrater, etc.
Has anyone done so yet, and how's it going?
Customers following you to the new site?
Any sales from said location?

Still planning to do so, just waiting on the funds.

Not yet. Like you, I'm waiting on the funds. I did close the ebay store down though. I should be opening on on Bidville by the end of the month.

Hey guys, don't forget once you open your stores to post em here as well!
If you have a banner, I also will post your pages on the links page, ebay or otherwise!

I've got a store over at eCrater.com which I've been enjoying. At this point is a supplement to eBay auctions but it's definitely a great way to get my eBay customers over for some non-eBay, no-fee transactions.

Since the fee hikes several other comics dealers have set up shop there as well so hopefully the existing base of comics customers browsing around will be increasing.

Well, went ahead and set up an account on Bluejay.
Since my goal is to entice my eBay buyers over to pick up the cheaper or less active items, figured I'd try free first, before paying for the service.
I'll try to keep current on how things turn out.

Hi btd,

How hard was it to list at http://www.blujay.com ? Can you use the same html there as we can at ebay?

pretty much. Most of my discription from old ebay listings are just copy and paste.
Plus, it's your listing, so promote whatever, wherever you wish.

I just opened up a Blujay store about a month ago, and have not had any sales yet. Ebay still seems to be the place with the most traffic, but it does get a little frustrating pay all the Ebay and Paypal fees.

yep, Blujay makes a good place to sit your items so they're available to your buyers from elsewhere.

I'm with btd! I have a few sells from http://fulltimer56.blujay.com (http://fulltimer56.blujay.com/) myself! I have a Bidville account but haven't done anything with it yet.

Great, Thanks for the input. BTD, you have a ton of items up there. Do you scan all of those comics? Even the .25 comics? Or do you ge tthe images from elsewhere?

I just registered there. I'm hoping to start selling there soon. Looks like it's kinda slow. I hate to think that feeBay is the only viable option right now.

I sold some books on bidville.. but they need to attract more buyers to the site.

So, can we get an update on the BluJay stores? Sales picking up at all?

I've been on Wagglepop since Fall 2006. I'd made some sales but nothing to write home about. It's simple, attractive and the community is supportive. If you need help, the message boards usually provide quick answers. I'm the only true 'comic guy' there. At the begining on '07, another seller came in with a big stock but only stuck around a few months. The store fee is a flat $10/month for unlimited listings. There is also a small back-end charge (a lot cheaper than eBay) as items sell. The thought of moving again and relisting 2000+ comics someplace else makes me cringe...

Watching my sales go down the tubes beginning Spring '06 at eBay was quite disheartening. I had been doing quite well with my Silver & Bronze stock but when eBay screwed around with the Search methodology and then the fees doubled, I was about done. Too bad. I really enjoyed it there.

From what I've read I guess I'll stick with eBay for now. I wish there was some competition that actually incurred sales, but I guess not yet.
