That's a new defect if I've ever heard one. Sounds like it came with the Atom comic CG had of the Hoboken pedigree.

Rat or mouse chews are not as uncommon as you think. I've seen plenty of comics that looked like they've been chewed on by rodents. I once bought a Amazing Spider-man #100 that was very nice and would have graded NM except for a bit of a chewed up corner. The seller explained he had mice in the basement where he kept his comics.

Oh yeah, that term's been around for quite a while. I heard it like 20 years ago, I'm sure it's older than that.

And it is an official term - CGC recognizes it! :-)

I've got a New Funnies #76 with a major rat chew, about 1-3/4" triangle all the way through the book. I think it may have been done by one of the giant Metal Munching Mice for the Bullwinkle show.

Dang...still too big......In San Diego in one of the stores a guy had an Incredible Hulk #2 that was rat chewed about 75 percent of the way through...he was still asking a hundred bucks for it LOL. :shock:
