First post, might as well ask for advice.
I would like to solicit opinions on using GrininBarrett Comics or some iteration therof as a storename.

Yes, Barrett is my surname
No, Wife would not allow children to be named as such (drat!)

Poll at top of post. By the way you can choose more than one answer.

Thanks habib!

Been reading up on the boards and really enjoy the community.

I kinda like the name too, but I am a bit prejudiced....

It might make a difference that I am only talking about ecommerce / Ebay. With a brick and mortar I don't think there would be any problems since the buyer can hold comics in their oft greasy, "hulk smash" hands. (I have nightmares about the folks I have seen going through boxes, bending back every book, etc.)

But with ecommerce everything is pretty much intangible until it arrives. Additionally, since condition is tantamount in comics, will the semblance of unprofessionalism outweigh any intangible benefit of "getting a kick out of the storename" or future name recognition? Will the majority of people even read on to the liberal return policy before they think "wow, If I have a problem with this guy, I am going to be screwed"?

I just don't think the possible benefits outweigh the possible detriments associated with the name, but it is too hard to disassociate myself from the argument either way.

I think that name is a non-issue. I have to say though, that I just bought a toy car from 'retrosexualswankmeister' so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Just don't use "Ewert" anywhere in the name and you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry that much about it, it's catchy and part of it is your name. Who ever heard of a Walmart or a 7-11 before they were staple names. I like it! Go for it.

You people are far too supportive.
Where is the criticism?
Why are dreams not being quashed under jackboots?

I started collecting in the late 70's (still have most, with tons of DD and X-men) and quit when I went to college in the mid 80's.
Started buying again a couple years ago (E-bay/Craigslist) and have been focusing on Warren's Creepy and Eerie as well as Skywald Psycho, Scream and Nightmare. Haven't bought anything new off the shelves since 87 other than a few onesie twosie things that interested me.

At some point (if I want to stay in the good graces of Mrs. grinin) I want to unload all the excess stuff/duplicates I have picked up along the way. But accumulating is much easier than downsizing, so I will probably be able to procrastinate a little longer.

Yeah, but I post everywhere else as grinin, no caps, so it came out that way.

Jackboot: Picture soldiers marching in totalatarian regimes. They do their goose-stepping in jackboots.
