when someone sends you an email asking to be your "Friend"? I have had emails from the guys and I have even sent a few out myself but what does it MEAN? I use PM or personal email to stay in connect with everyone so what's with that feature?

Thanks,
Linda

It's like "myspace" but here we have "friends".

Hi MG,

That doesn't really help me here!!! I have never been on "myspace" so don't know what that is! ;)

Thanks,
Linda

It just means they show up on your profile page and anyone going there will know you have a connection online. It's called social networking. It's just a way for people to feel connected. On a messageboard, people are already connected, so it feels a little redundant and obvious.

For that feature to really work here, the profile page would have to allow for a little more self expression and modifications by the user. That is unlikely to happen because there are increased security risks involved.

I see the "personal thread" on the profile page, where "friends" are invited, as a slightly more private version of the greater Corral. It's more in league with Personal Messages, where only those invited (as "Friends") may participate.

As for me, lately I have been amiss at keeping up there, but when I was on a roll, I found it a good venue to just chat it up about just about anything on topics that would likely just clutter up the general boards. A good way to pull someone aside for a semi-private one on one chat too.

And as a Mod, it's also a great way to welcome in new Corral Members.

Come on over to my profile thread and say "howdy" why dontcha! #cheers#

Cuts both ways. As a mod, you have to wear one of them goofy haircuts, too, so you might be frightening the noobs.
