My top five in no order would be :

Astonishing X-Men
Captain America
Hulk
Ultimate Spider-Man
Uncanny X-Men ( this series by Ed Brubaker is really getting better, it reminds me of Claremont/Bryne days at the title)

Other notables are Batman by Morrison/Kubert, FNSM by Peter David, Ultimates 2, Civil War, Heroes for Hire (I know this is new but the first issue has got me hooked, I liked the concept), Ultimate X-Men by Kirkman, Ms. Marvel (Cho covers rocks), Black Panther (I must be the only one reading this from the Corral), there are tons of books I like to read but the top titles I listed are the ones I read first before others.

Hmmmm, let's see, just five?

TIE
Action Comics / Superman - These titles will always be my top pick, not because I think they're better than other titles out there, just because Superman is was and always will be my fav'rit.

Astonishing X-Men - Joss Whedon seems to recall what it was that made X-Men interesting, too bad it's not catching.

Justice League of America - Hey! I remember these guys!

52 - Yeah some issues are lame, and I'm not entirely sure what's happening yet. But this book has a certain feel, kind of like what happens here matters. Reminds me of Adventure Comics during the 70's for some reason.

TIE
Wonder Woman / Green Lantern - Two of my favorites who are finally getting the treatment they deserve.

So I picked seven, SUE ME! (please don't!)

Well with seven million X-titles and fewer and fewer people noticing the quality drop in the main titles Astonishing just doesn't stand a chance.

I noticed that a few of you that posted about Y the Last Man. It is a great read, I only get the TPB when it comes out. I don't buy the issues. I hear it's supposed to get finished sooner. Am I right?

I think the final issue of Y is #60. Once I get issues 1 thru 12, I'll read this series! I haven't read any of the issues to give me more incentive to complete the series! Heather has read a few and she really likes it.

1. Walking Dead
2. Y the Last Man
3. Fables
4. Astonishing X-Men
5. 52

The #5 slot changes, but the other 4 are pretty static. The issues are consistently great.

Is Astonishing X-Men in the regular Marvel 616 continuity or not?

Don't believe it is. Alternate continuity or not it is in tough when there are so many options .... options that are more regular in the release I might add.

2. Justice League
3. Ultimate Spider-Man
4. 52

Good, that's what I originally thought. It'd be embarassing if I didn't buy it for one of the wrong reasons, but that's one reason I never picked it up...
Plus, I dunno what it is, but Cassady's art on the series isn't as good as his Planetary IMHO. And from what I've seen at my LCS, is Cassady drawing any backgrounds in this book?

I used to get Flash before Infinite Crisis. When I learned Bart/Impulse was going to be The Flash, I took that as a jumping-off point. Not a fan of Impulse and his "goofy" style - I really wish they had never introduced him into the Flash family. #dunno# Is this book less goofy?

Plus, I was afraid Humberto Ramos would start drawing the book

Impulse hasn't been Impulse for a while now. Since his recent update to Kid Flash, he had seemed to have "grown up" some. The new book so far has mostly portrayed him as an adult.

Did Crisis change his origin at all? Grew up in the future, in a virtual reality environment, hyperactive kid, etc? That was part of his lameness. I'd be willing to give him a shot if they've totally changed him around :-D

I read the first three issues of the new Flash series and wasn't impressed, but then, I've never been a big fan of the Flash. I read a few issues of Impulse and hated it. Read the first 20 or so issues of the new Teen Titans series and he still annoyed the shit outta me. Just not my cup of tea I guess..... #dunno#

Infinite Crisis didn't change his origin, but something to do with Superboy Prime apparently aged him an additional 4 years beyond that which he'd recently aged in the Titans series. He's growing up fast...

While I've never been a huge Flash fan either, and I never got intot he Impulse series much at all, I've been a Teen Titans fan ever since I was a kid. I've very much enjoyed the current Titans series. All that being said, five issues into the new Flash series, and I'm not all that terribly impressed.

I'm fairly certain that Astonishing X-Men exists in the "regular" Marvel Universe continuity, whatever that actually is. Since the events in "House of M" and Decimation and Civil War directly impact and feature the X-Men which appear in this title. I admit that figuring out what continuity even means in the Marvel Universe is a bit like figuring out what "truth" means in politics.

I'm not too sure that all the dust has settled yet as far as the Flash and Wonder Woman series go. Both series have been a bit coy about saying who the star of the series will actually be. While I'm pretty sure that Diana Prince and not Donna Troy will be the star of Wonder Woman, I think that the identity of the one true Flash has yet to be determined and that the writers are just having a little fun jerking us around. But I'm enjoying both series. I still don't understand why they had to be "rebooted", I hate that!

I haven't seen any Astonishing covers with the Civil War banner. Does Civil War, HOM, et al, impact and affect this title? Is HOM, Civil War, etc, discussed in the book? Are these X-Men different versions of the X-Men we know (is this the only place/book Colossus is in the X Universe right now?)? Meaning how does this book link Wolverine to his other 2 books (one which proceeds directly from HOM)?

Just curious :-)

Part way down in this "article" it is implied that Astonishing is within the regular continuity .... but was changed so that Whedon would not be a slave to it ... so that would mean to me that this books is essentially in a universe all its own.

I don't think there have been any CIVIL WAR tie-in/crossovers in the Astonishing title, however, the team of X-Men; Cyclops, Emma, Kitty, Wolverine, Colossus and Beast have been featured in the regular Marvel Universe, such as in HOM,. And the fall-out from that event, such as Professor X losing his powers, have been included in Astonishing. It was my understanding that this book was the regular 616 Universe.

Currently all three "regular" X-Men titles; Astonishing, Uncanny and "no adjective" X-Men, feature different teams involved in different storylines and CIVIL WAR hasn't crossed over into any of these titles. However there is a CIVIL WAR: X-MEN series which features the original surviving members of the X-Men and some of the Astonishing team, as well as others.

Confused?

Good.

I can't remember where I read this, this is just off the top of my head. The series doesn't stop with Whedon and Cassaday leaving the title, there will be a new team taking over. I wonder who will it be worthy enough to top them?

*#bump#*

The only long series I currently nab are: Conan the Cimmerian, Moon Knight and ASM.

As far as short-run titles, I really like the current Solomon Kane and Kull series from DH.

... hmmm, was that 5?

Recently, I also liked the new Tor run and even the Suicide Squad relaunch a while back.
