After watching the 3rd movie of the Mad Max series (Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) last night, I got to thinking, when did the first movie come out? After finding my VCR tape of Mad Max I realized that this series started in 1979, 30 years ago. With such a cult following, you would think that they would have some plans on producing some merchandising to honor this occassion. I haven't seen anything as yet. I would Love to see a new toy line come out honoring all the movies with detailed figures. Is McFarlane Toys Listening? Pleeessseee
It would also be cool if they could come out with some of the vehicles that were in the movies, The only one I've ever seen is the interceper from the first movie.
Also why wasn't a comic series ever made, or was it and it just went under the radar. I know they made one for both "Escape from New York"( Snake Plissken Chronicles) and Waterworld ( Waterworld Children of the Leviathan) but I never seen one for Max.
I would love to see Garth Ennis' take on this character.
Anyway I was just wondering if anyone is a fan of the trilogy as I am, and would like to see a new detailed toy line to honor this special occassion.

I enjoyed Mad Max quite a bit. I don't think the follow up movies had the same creative spark, they were much more mainstream

Max was great.
Warrior was pretty darn good.
Thunderdome....#bash2#
I did not realize it was 30 yrs old.
Don't know that there should be McFarlanes or anything but would be cool to have a blu-ray box set of all 3.
That might be a set that would sway my usual 'no dvd' stance.

Mad Max is one of my favorite movies. Surprisingly, I haven't seen any related merchandise for the movie series except for VHS and DVD's.
I'd like to see a comic series that takes place in the world of Mad Max. Jason Aaron and Ennis can write some great yarns on it.

Mad Max, Road Warrior & Tim are the three movies that made me a Mel Gibson fan!! I saw Road Warrior first but got a copy of Mad Max as soon as I could find one and I saw Tim the first time it came out.
I wouldn't mind having a "box-set" of the three movies (not a big fan of Thunderdome). Even if I do already have all three in both VHS & DVD!! ;)

Ah, post-apocalyptic car movies -- one of my favorite genres! #cloud9#
Re: "Mad Max 4: Fury Road"... per Wikipedia:
A sequel, entitled Mad Max 4: Fury Road, was originally intended to be the fourth of the Mad Max franchise of science fiction action movies. The film was announced in December 2002 to begin shooting in Australia in May 2003. The status of the Fury Road film now is in pre-production. Although the project was given the green light for a $100 million USD budget, Fury Road has been in hiatus due to security concerns related to trying to film in Africa, because the United States and many other countries have tightened travel and shipping restrictions. However, as recently as November 2006, George Miller stated that he still has full intentions to make another Mad Max film, telling the press that he’s considering doing the film without Gibson, saying, “There's a real hope. The last thing I wanted to do is another Mad Max, but this script came along, and I'm completely carried away with it." The film's screenplay was co-written with cult British comic creator Brendan McCarthy, who also designed many of the new characters and vehicles. Ten News in Australia has stated that George Miller is definitely making another Mad Max film. He has stated that he wants a Hollywood unknown to take the role of Max Rockatansky. Miller again confirmed his desire to make another Mad Max at the 2007 Aurora film maker initiative. However, he did say he thought Mel Gibson would not be interested in the film because he is too old.
