View Full Version : Pet related comic book destruction
Has anyone ever lost some books to the family pets?
I did today. I came home to find my newest issue of All Star Superman shredded all over the house. This book was literally everywhere. I'll be finding panels for days!
That's a real drag. At least I read it first! I just left it on the coffee table and the dog took it from there.
Maybe I can do like CG and try to auction it off on eBay!
Luckily, this was my first ever comic lost due to pet chewing. Have any of you ever lost some comics to the family pet?

Not pets, kids! My youngest got a hold of a few of my Batman comics. Tore them to shreds. Can't beat em so join em! I got on the floor with him and started tearing em up. He loved it! What ya gonna do? #dunno#

I've never had any comics destroyed but i've had plenty of comic box destruction, the lid to a short bok and halk of one end of a long box.
Cant stay mad at a face like that.

Here are a few musings from my 35+ years of comic reading.....
Our cat in the late 60's or early 70's got on a box that had Spidey #34-38 on the top......several nice claw marks later earned him an ass whipping (by my brothers....I was just a kid)!
In 1980-81 during my freshman year at College I had just got back to my dorm room from the comic store with a bag of about 8-10 comics (of course all Marvel at that time period!) and I laid the bag on our wooden table when my roommate came into the room playing with a big sharp knife. He proceeded to use my bag of comics as a target putting a big hole through most of them.......which promptly earned him an ass whipping which I satisfactorily administered!
Around a year or so ago our new inside cat decided that the stack of 20 or so Creepy magazines I had just bought would be a good place to take a dump. That top Creepy mag will never be the same again (actually it met Mr Trash Can that day).....needless to say the cat got an ass whipping and is now an outside cat (more problems with it than just that).
My wife (a couple years before she was my wife) and I took a Spring Break vacation to FL in '87. We ended up going to an Antique show and I bought an old EC comic for about $30. We got back to the hotel room and she said she wanted to take a look at it. I took it out of the comic bag for her and gently handed it to her. She opened the comic and proceeded to rip the cover about 2 inches in the middle. The look on my face I am sure was priceless. She apologized over and over and I was like "no problem"...."It's OK" and so on.......but I was crying on the inside. Needless to say she did NOT get her ass whipped......and we have been together over 20 years now!
Ahhhhh.......sweet memories.........
