Rather than post these under the Silver Age Cover Thread, I'll be posting them under a separate thread because I feel these deserve a thread of their own.
A bit of background--House of Mystery features some of the greatest covers of the horror genre. Greats like Neal Adams and Bernie Wrightson contributed awesome covers. Contributors included the aforementioned, Alex Toth, Wally Wood, Mike Kaluta, Nestor Redondo, Alex Nino, and a host of other talented artists, lierary too numerous to name.
Here's one of my favorite, House of Mystery 178. A great cover and lead story by Neal Adams.

If you noticed I skipped #179, that's because stupid ol' me decided way back when that even if the cover was by Neal Adams I wouldn't buy it if it didn't have any interior art that I liked. Not the first time and probably not the last I'll regret not buying a comic.

But wait...there's more. I'm having fun looking through my boxes and re-dicovering a lot of comics I don't remember having. Many of these are my under copies. I still have many boxes to look through. What can I say, I was a hoarder back then. Eventually I'm going to pare down my collection and sell most of my duplicates.
Here's one of my favorite Adams cover, House of Mystery #189. With a story by Grandenetti and inked by Wood. An odd combination, but it works.

Great covers, Jae. Wasn't that series the ones that introduced the "I...Vampire" comics. I had almost forgotten that comic, I used to read it as a kid. That introduced me to the world of vampires and bloodsuckers.

MG, the series, "I, Vampire" started in House of Mystery #290. I think I have a copy, but I have to find it.
Anyway, This pretty much wraps up what I have to post. Maybe I'll run across a few stray copies that I haven't posted yet. I have some older ones before the Neal Adams era but I haven't run across them yet. It's been fun sharing with you what I have.

And you know what the best part is? I have most of them! I collected all of DC's horror titles from that era.
I'm not sure whether I told this story here or at the old Corral, but here it is again:
One of the comic fanboy highlights was about two years ago when I was at the San Diego Con and asked Neal Adams to sign my copy of House of Mystery 186 — the great Pan cover for the story "Nightmare."
He used a silver pen that left a great big blotch. He apologized sincerely for that, but I told him "That's cool — it's a Neal Adams blotch."
Got it in my hands right now. Great, great book.

 Nice comics! I don't need to tell you how hard those are to find in grade. As you can see, most of mine are mid-grade. Back in the 70's and 80's when I got them, those horror comics were bargain bin fodder. I was satisfied just having a copy to read. Ah, if only I knew then what I know now.

Yep, these aren't necessarily difficult, but they aren't easy either. I think all of this stuff was cheap until I was going after my HOM CGC run in 2003. I still have around 15+ to go to wrap up my registry set...I'd be grateful if anyone here has some books I need to fill in the holes.

I honestly skip his booth anytime I see it at a show because I know his prices are above my spending. Someone over at the DC boards I chat with has actually gotten Harley to discount a few books. I was shocked because I remember hearing that he never discounts. These were semi key books too.

That is shocking!
That being said I am sure I could get somewhat of a discount from Harley if I really wanted a book since I have been selling to him at conventions for many years (at a nice dealer discount). That man is a buying machine on set-up days!!
