Yet again, Marvel is doing another variant set to celebrate the 70th in August.

Here's some of the covers...

Seriously, Marvel is going overboard with the variants every other month on books that doesn't sell well. Is this a sign of things to come?

I like the Nova one. Might try to track down a copy.

Off the top of my head, I see that these books are :

Agents of Atlas ~ Saturday Night Fever
Nova ~ Flashdance/Staying Alive mix?
X-Men Legacy ~ Madonna Vogue pose
War Machine ~ Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana (music video)
Marvel Zombies 4 ~ Thriller
ASM ~ Tricky Dick
Uncanny X-Men ~ Not sure, maybe an album cover for one of these New Age bands

I have no clue about the She-Hulk cover.

War Marchine interests me. I was a freshman in college when Nirvana hit it big with teen spirit.
Are those supposed to be bell-bottoms on Spider-man? Didn't anyone tell the artist they're boots?

Dazzler looks like Dee Snider from Twisted Sister...

That's the worst idea Marvel's had this month!

Horrible covers.

Luckily none of them are on my pull list.

Even worse than the apes!

I'm with Jordan but I do get She-Hulk, damn it!!

But that's OK because I don't worry about any kind of variant covers. I believe the only one I ever went out and look for, for myself, was the Thor one by Arthur Suydam a few years ago!

Oh, BTW I like the Nova one too! ;)

I may seek a couple of these. I partake in very few variants. My LCS gives me a few but I rarely ask for them specifically. Variants have been the rage for a long time and eventually they will fade away like every other trend but people seem to like them so far and unlike other crap in the bygone days some of the work on the variants is really nice work. I would much rather go after variants that have nice new covers like these rather than the "sketch" variants. Man those sketch variants are weak offerings.

I hear ya. The 6 months I spent in Thailand was full of surprises!

I imagine you were less surprised than David Carradine.

Out of all the covers, I like the War Machine cover best.

What?

You don't like having to pay cover price for a book with no cover image that you then have to pay somebody else to put a picture on?

What's wrong with that?#creep#

and less dead. Close but those are the joys of youth. Dumb and strong.
