At a garage sale today for $1!!!! :D:D:D:D

Never owned one of these, nor even seen one in a comic shop, before today.

Also purchased a bunch of VF or better Plop comics and other stuff for $1 each.

That's nice. What else did you find?

The last garage sale I went too that advertised comics had about 20 or so and they were young blood and one of the adventure of superman comics.

I believe that's the first Grendel appearance.

Also picked up some nice condition PLOPs (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 21, 22), House of Mystery 225 (g/vg), Thors (vf) 251, 252, 254, 255, 258, 281, Power Man Iron Fist 84 (with Marks Jewelers insert). A lot of other crap I had to sort through to find this stuff, but well worth it for the 1st Grendel and this other stuff.

It is the first Grendel and the print run was relatively low. I remember these were hard to come by in the early 80s when they first came out. Also of note is that Sam Keith's first incarnation of Maxx was in issue number 5...

Very cool find. The problem with finding a really cool book in a stack of dreck is you just feel the need to go through everything. I went through a collection of 40 boxes last year 'cause I found a Walking Dead #3 in the first box. If I hadn't spotted that book I could have walked away happy. 40 boxes later I had a handful of comics but there was no way I was stopping until I found that imaginary Walking Dead #1. It's all about the hunt...
