View Full Version : Action Comics (DC)
Anyone pick up issue #844? This begins the new story from Geoff Johns, Richard Donner and Adam Kubert.
I thought the story was pretty good, but the art just didn't do it for me. The cover was nice though. The interior art was kind of "sketchy" or something.
I'm definately interested in the story though, it's pretty interesting! Any one else have a chance to read it yet?

I agree Hoss, the art was pretty bad throughout most of the issue in fact, there were a few panels that weren't as bad, very inconsistent.
The story looks interesting, but I'm a bit peeved that DC is doing exactly what I have admonished Marvel for doing; adjusting the comic to match the movies, rather than the other way around. The fortress of crystal-tude, the floating head of Jor-El, the "S" belt buckle, the Kent farm exterior shot looks like they lifted it directly from SUPERMAN RETURNS, Clark looks a lot like Brandon Routh in several panels and now a shaggy-haired "Super Son" for Lois & Clark!
I don't mind writer's and artists bringing their own ideas into comic based movies, in a movie you have only a limited amount of time to tell a story. But comics go on for decades. I just wish they would respect the characters and their readers enough to not begin changing established elements of a character on a whim to make them more like their "movie versions" when if not for the "comic versions", the movies wouldn't even exist!

I really liked this weeks issue! The last page suprise was also very interesting. Looks like it's revenge time!

I didn't read the current ACTION story arc yet, Hoss.
I plan to this weekend, though.

Isn't the issue the one with Donner first issue of the run? If so, I ought to pick it up. If you liked the book, there's something there then. I've picked up Superman lately with Busiek and Pacheo in it. I liked it.

The art was much better in the second Donner issue. MUCH BETTER. It made up for the first one.
So what does everyone think about the current "Super Jimmy" antics in the book?
It's funny, I reckon, but I can't wait for more "normal" stories to start up again.

Aarrghh! Gary Frank is one of my favorite Modern artists, but he's going to be drawing Action Comics!
What should I do??
