iv been going to online forums, ebay and craigslist to sell my books
i got a few offers from craigslist but i figure it may be spam
i got 2 offers for my entire collection so far.
my collection consists of 80s-09 books
a couple of key silver age books
lots of variants and modern key issues
mostly marvel and few dc.
would selling that set for $35,000 be to much?

opinions!! thanks!

Seems like you're asking quite a lot to me for 1980s to current stuff.
How many books are there in the collection?
Any in-demand Silver Age or older pieces? Grades?

80-09 stuff selling wholesale @ $20-$30 box. Not wanting to
insult, but, currently a very soft market.

To realize the most return on your money invested is to sell them one at a time and in runs by title.

Selling them in bulk means getting rid of them fast for less money.Assuming you have a pretty large collection, most people won't be interested in every one in it.The dealer looks to flip them and the collector looks for what he needs to fill his want list.

A few years back, when I got out of collecting,I sold 1300 pieces for $1 each, but the buyer had to take them all.In that lot were a complete run of Thor from #126 through 460,all VF or better & the ones from #200 up being near mint. Also a full run of Silver Surfer Vol.1 vg/f & better,A full run of Captain Marvel #1-62(the Kree guy),full run of Warlock with crossovers,Full runs of Howard the Duck & Dreadstar,Nexus, lots of Dave Stevens covers.I sold them local right before I found ebay so I took a washing on them.I've since replaced all but the Captain Marvel and it's cost me more than what I sold them for.

Most stuff from 1980 up can be had fairly cheap, even most variants.Today the biggest cost in getting them is the cost of shipping tacked on.Buying them in bulk on ebay I can get them on the average of less than 50 cents each, most a lot less and that's including shipping.

Some sellers sell a long box for $20 to $100 and it costs less than $25 to ship them media mail.that's 250-300 books.I bought a box from a seller here for $125 shipped and he stuffed it with some pretty sweet books.

If you have enough you could open up a store on Comic Collectors Live for about $15 a month plus comissions or sell them on ebay.

Heck, try selling them here,we do it all the time.

If you want them gone in a hurry,be prepared to sell cheap.Making more requires selling some to people who actually want and need them.

Whatever you decide,I wish you the best of luck.

Whadda' ya got by the way?

The two offers you got so far do they come close to $35,000?
edit: I am not being snarky here but should really ask did they make you a cash offer?

I think selling as one big lot may be difficult in this market but I am just guess. My suggestion would be to sell the series as lots.

Start a text list and post it here.

There are several of us here that would buy small chunks of your collection.

I would say that generally speaking, it would be easier to sell them individually or in groups than as one collection as it would be more likely you can find 35,000 people with a dollar to spend than one person with $35,000 to spend. JMHO

I've been slowly liquidating a 30,000 plus collection over the past half year or so.

I started with about 87 long boxes that i purchased for a grand, plus my own existing collection of about 10 long boxes or so.

I have only sold about 2 or 3 long boxes worth ad have already turned a profit.

That sounds great. However, my basement is still full of all these friggin comic boxes i want to get rid of.

I am loving the profit and tons of good reading---but I want to move some of this crap.

I have had success selling in the following ways so far:

Right here on the Corral!!!

Comicpriceguide.com
ebay
Local antique mall
craigslist

I plan on putting a bunch onto CCL soon as well.

I hate ebay and have sworn them off--but I might have to swear them back on again--since that is the best place i have found to move big lots quickly for a decent profit.
