This is in addition to whatever he'll be doing in Adventure Comics.
The future of the DC Universe is looking brighter than it's been in a long time. Not only is classic writer Paul Levitz returning to theLegion of Super-Heroes, but he's doing so with two series. We talked to him exclusively.
Following fan-favorite writer Geoff (Blackest Night, Green Lantern) Johns' high-profile relaunch of the 51-year old Legion of Super-Heroes franchise over the last few years in stories such as \\"The Lightning Saga,\\" \\"Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes\\" and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds, Levitz - whose 1980s tenure as Legion writer saw the series become one of DC's most popular titles - is returning to the future not only in the current Adventure Comics series, but also a brand-new Legion of Super-Heroes book. We talked to him about the future of the Legion, society and why xenophobia is a good thing... in terms of writing.

Well, well, well. I really liked Levitz's work, especially on The Great Darkness saga. That was the epitome of Legion stories, in my opinion I hope he can bring back some of that cosmic grandeur that's been lacking.
I've picked up a few Legion books throughout the years and been disappointed. The Legion was an outcast group, fighting the bureaucrats, reviled by planetary governments... none of it appealed to me much. Too much force-fed angst.
I'll pick this title up when it comes out and maybe it'll become the only superhero book on my list.

Hear Hear! His run on Legion is one of my very favorites in comics. This is great news.

As long as they give him some leeway on the storyline and direction of the title....I still think Didio will find a way to screw this up as well. Cautiously optimistic on this news.....

DilDio will find a way to make it part of an event for no reason or make a Legion only story a mainstream DCU event for no reason.

So .... Legion of Super-Heroes v6 then? How many times are they going to reboot this series?

As long as #1s keep getting a sales boost.

Maybe they'll add up all the Legion series from the past and start this series with #600 or something...

Nah, they'd never stoop to Marvel depths.
Or maybe they'll redeem unsold Siege covers (a lot of them from what I hear) for variant BN last issues.

Riiight, notice the numbering on Superman lately? DC has done legacy numbering and Marvel has followed suit. Marvel did it on a larger scale and with a hell of alot of number fudging.

That's my point. They try several times every decade and meet with some success but the LOSH has never caught on in the way DC WANTS it to. So if they want a LOSH title they should EXPECT the numbers to be relatively low on the book as they are NEVER going to be the next X-Men. Rather than dink around canceling and rebooting all the time, and make it hard for people to get into the title as a result, they should just keep the title going and when it flags replace the creative team. IMO they keep getting all these fossils to write the LOSH to which isn't helping. Most of what is moving and doing well in DC is done by creative teams that are not residents at seniors homes. That's not to say those dinosaurs can't still do a good job but ...

Back in the early to mid 80s, LSH was one of DCs top sellers. Remember that when DC decided to go with the upscale Baxter series, the two titles they selected were the Teen Titans and the Legion. They actually had two monthly titles running for awhile, and recieved a number of CBG and Eagle awards. this was before Moore's Swamp Thing, and the Dark Knight revival, as well as Byrne's Superman.
If I were writing a Legion series, I'd do a book similar to The X-Men series that retold their early adventures. Most early X-Men stories were pretty lame( as were the Legions), but the modern retelling was damned good. I read few new books these days so i have no idea if Superboy,Supergirl, Mon-el or any other Legion standards even exist in the New DC Universe(s)
