A number of years ago I started picking up the Avon sci fi books when they came up at reasonable prices, like Robotmen and Earth Man on Venus. Then they started to show up in some of my other purchases like Davy Crockett, Wild Bill Hickock, and movie comics like The Unknown Man. Now I've finally said what the hell, I now collect Avons, any and all. So now I have a copy of Fighting Undersea Commandos #1 out there in the mails somewhere (I hope) and in 4 minutes I'll bid on a Jesse James #1. My fear is I'm biting off more than I can chew, which never stopped me before.

So now I have two Avons "in transit".

There's not a lot of Avon books that have caught my eye but the Witchcraft series has some really appealing covers.

Just hard to find the budget for them right now or they'd be accumulating.

Appealing or appalling? I almost forgot their precode horror.

A lit bit of column A and a little bit of column B.

This, is, I think, my fav Witchcraft cover. Despite the freaky demon coming out of the beaker and the dude in the background looking on in 'horror', the lady is just fixing her hair

With 385 total issues published it's doable to get them all,but some are quite expensive, like Reform School Girl and Slave Girl Comics. On the upside they had a lot of one shots and short runs, the longest being Peter Rabbit.Eeire ran for 17 and had some awsome covers.I've only got 1,Buddies in the U.S. Army #2 and there were only 2.Would also like to pick up some issues of The Saint.

I never saw this thread. How's the Avon collection going Malaprop?

A little slow, but I came across this one in my precode binder. I've moved it over to the Avon folder.
