Hey everyone. Just a quick note. I've set up a website so I can have a permanent spot to try to sell my comic collection. I've only got about 200 items in there so far but plan on updating frequently going forward. Its nothing fancy but I can slap up books rapidily and has a shopping cart built in so if you see something you like give it a try.

www.kenscomicbooks.com (http://www.kenscomicbooks.com)

I'll still be doing sales threads here on occasion and selling on ebay but I wanted to have a spot where I can keep my for sale items current so buyers could add on from any sales site and save on shipping.

Thanks for your time and please email me with any questions.
Ken

Hi Ken,

Nice site! The integrated shopping cart looks pretty seemless too. Here's my suggestion: move the search and the shopping cart icon to the top of the banner or just under the bar so that it is available on every page.

Thanks Jnine.

Awesome suggestion Jnine. But thats the rub with using a free website service... I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to get those elements into the header of the site (I'm sure someone with a little more web savvy could do it). Which is why I have that shopping cart button smashed into the top of every page... may have to put the search button there if I get the energy.

That's actually not a bad boiler plate website either. The design looks clean and neat. Don't forget to register your site with all the search engines. It will take awhile for to get indexed unless you pay but if you start now by time you get your inventory up it will help.

Great site Ken, I just didn't see anything that I don't already have :( Maybe in the future you will. Do you happen to have Sgt. Rock Lost Battalion issues 1 -3 by chance? The art on this is surperb and the story is great. I got 4-6 and met the artist at Heroes convention at Charlotte. If anyone hasn't seen his art work you're missing out Tucci is his last name. He did the Shi series. These comics are detailed to the extreme.

Quite right SC.Tucci is awsome.I have a big stack of Shi comics but the continuity is so freaking hard to follow I just gave up trying to get them all. He's not done much work ofr the big 2 has he?

Thanks Jnine. Yep, I've submitted to all the search engines. The trick is getting anyone to find you. The web is a big ocean out there.

Thanks. I don't think I have those Sgt. Rock issue Scarecrow. If I do come across them they are yours though. Most the stuff I have up was the low hanging fruit that was easy to list but I plan on getting 80-90% of my collection up there as its time to pare down the sheer volumnn of what I own so hopefully at some point you will see something to tempt you.

Thanks Toz. It took a few hours to set up the basic template for the site as its nothing fancy. (as you know the real time suck is the picture taking/editing and grading of each item). I wanted to keep it very simple so my daughter could help me add items if the mood hit her.

I don't mind sharing at all, what are friends for? Its not quite free. I did pay the ~$10 to register the www.kenscomicbooks.com (http://www.kenscomicbooks.com) for the year but the hosting is from microsoft's www.officelive.com (http://www.officelive.com) site. Its a simple WYSWYG editor so its real simple. Then I intergrated the shopping cart from www.mals (http://www.mals)-e.com and away you go. Give it a shot, you can even do it without a .com name so it could be %100 free.

Now having anyone find you on the web is the problem. The only sales I've had from the site so far is either add-ons from Ebay sales or from old Ebay buyers that know me. Hopefully that will change but I figure the majority of my sales will still come from ebay and threads from here but it keeps me off the street.

Thanks again, Ken

Just an update on my website (cause I know you all are hanging on this info)... I've added a twitter feed to the main page of www.kenscomicbooks.com (http://www.kenscomicbooks.com) that I plan to update with newly added items when they go for sale on the site. So just check the 1st page of the site when you get a chance and see if any of the new comics catch you eye. Thanks, Ken
