Halifax! Sorry, but that's a little too far for me to travel for his signature. Besides, I already have his signature on issues 1-10, plus a couple of other books. Further besides... Dave was already turning a little weird when I last saw him about 20 years ago, and from what I've read of his ranting and ravings, I think meeting him again would be a severe disappointment.

But I wouldn't mind going back to Halifax someday. Or rather Lunenburg, also in NS. I thought I recognized the town while watching Haven on SyFy, so I checked imdb.com and sure it, that's where it's filmed. Beautiful little town.

Funny I met Dave about that long ago too. Rather liked him. Sadly Halifax isn't on my list of places to go either, and I no longer really enjoy meeting artists/writers at signings. You never really get to talk to them or get to know them at all.

The last one I spent any real time with was either Bill Willingham or Colleen Doran

Hey you have already probably already seen the uber cool poster for "the last signing" (if not just look above) and thought oh yeah I would really love to go - But is there any more you can tell me - and honestly really sincerely and truthfully IS this Dave's Last signing?!

Well as luck would have it we have managed to put this very question (and quite a few others as well) direct to Dave himself and he has answered them all

But hey you say - what about the answer? Is this really the last signing

Dave says :- "Yes it is - why is a very long story…"

so this IS the last signing so no more need for quotation marks - so mark the date on your calendars - September 24th 2010 and get on down to Strange Adventures!

But is that all? Absolutely not! There is a lot more to come - Keep an eye out for more updates and more Q & A from Dave as we near closer the date itself there's a literal extravaganza all coming your way at Strange Adventures

And hey don't be shy why not pop on over and give them a visit? They are at:-

You know what? The Last Signing is looking like as if it might just be one the most exciting events in quite some time

Joining us over the next few days is Dave Sim with a Q and A all about the event - so without further ado - why don't we jump in?

Q: At the Last Signing Will you be signing EVERYTHING or only SOME things?

A: No body part or clothing someone is in the middle of wearing. I have already had to reject a fans request for a tattoo design!

Apart from that we will have two lines going: one line for people who just want one autograph and another line for as many autographs as they want -- on material I have worked on.

Each person in the second line (as many autographs as they want) is also entitled to one cerebus head sketch and they can pick what they want it drawn on - the title page of a trade paper back or a backing board are favourites. Also there will be some UK tour 1986 posters, Spirits of National Unity 1995 prints and Cerebus and Spawn prints. The first people in line get all three - first come, first served.

If anyone wants to take a photograph that is fine - come to the front of the line as often as you want -- just make sure to be polite and not interrupt whoever it is I am talking to.

------

Look out for another Last Signing update coming your way Monday!

The interest in the Last Signing continues to build - Now only a few more days to go - do not forget all the details are above and there is a lot more over at Strange Adventures

http://www.strangeadventures.com/

Let's pick up with the already in progress Q & A with Dave Sim

Q: What about people who can not make it to the 10 pm signing Friday?

A: There will be at least two more opportunities open to everyone. There will be a "Glamourpuss reception":-

9 PM - Midnight at The Economy Shoe Shop Cafe and Bar,
661-1663 Argyle Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
There is even a poster - just for this event!

http://gallery.me.com/robin.barnard/100686/glamourpuss_web/web.jpg

Please note for the Glamourpuss event it is Business attire. Meaning jacket and tie for the gentlemen and a chance to get all dressed up for the ladies.

For the younger readers, I will be staging the first and my last ever Arrival Signing - Air Canada Flight 606 from Toronto arriving at 1pm. I am also at this time going to be judging any "Welcome to Halifax" signs. The best sign will win a set of all 16 Cerebus Trade paperback's for its creator and another set for a library of the winner's choice.

Q: You have not changed your mind about the "one free Cerebus head sketch per person" have you?

A: No --- as a matter of fact we are now giving everyone the opportunity to get as many head sketches as they want: one for each canned good they bring as a donation to the Nova Scotia foodbank.

Q: What if someone brings 40 or 50 cans?

A: All the better for the Nova Scotia foodbank

Newsflash!

There will be an auction at the Glamourpuss event of the bidders choice of one of the three original Glamourpuss pieces of artwork from Dave Sim's personal collection. This is the first time that original art from Glamourpuss has ever been made available for sale! The proceeds from the auction will also go to the Nova Scotia foodbank. The artwork on offer is the one of the following 3 as originally appeared in Glamourpuss issue 12:-

"Lovely Linda"

http://gallery.me.com/robin.barnard/100686/Curves/web.jpg

Just in case you have been hiding somewhere - it is now only a few days before Dave Sims last public signing - ever

Really? Yes Really - Take it away Dave Sim:-

"By the time everyone is reading this, I will be in Halifax getting ready for the big night on Friday.

Thanks to BLEEDING COOL,

THE JOE SHUSTER AWARDS,

Halifax weekly newspaper THE COAST,

and THE CHRONICLE-HERALD,

everyone at the STRANGE ADVENTURES Facebook page,

John Scrudder for running the "Halifax media" auction,

and of course a special thank you to Cal and all at STRANGE ADVENTURES who have put their all into making this event so special,

If the Last Signing is as half as exciting as all the faxes that have been streaming through my fax machine have been, I think we are all in for quite a night!"

---------
Just to remind you all this is the schedule for the whole 4 days of events - do not forget if you can not make one, you may be able to make another - you will not get another chance!

So Cal - take it away:-

First up is the airport meet & greet! Dave arrives on Air Canada 606 from Toronto at 1PM Wednesday, September 22nd. Be there with a “welcome to Halifax” sign (or something to that effect - “the maritimes welcomes Cerebus” etc.) and Dave will choose his favourite to win a set of Cerebus books! AND they get another set for their local school or public library!

Thursday afternoon - portfolio reviews
Are you an aspiring comic artist? A cartoonist ready to break into the biz? Would you like some tips and advice from one of the most experienced and award-winning cartoonists? Drop by the Spring Garden Road Library in downtown Halifax between 4 and 7pm for portfolio reviews with the one and only Dave Sim!

Another portfolio review is set for Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 pm also at the Spring Garden Road Library.

Friday night is the big night - The last Signing 10pm at Strange Adventures - 5262 Sackville Street in downtown Halifax.

What’s that? Not familiar with Cerebus?
Drop by the store in Halifax and impress upon the friendly staff your earnest wish to learn more about this odd comic book character that Dave wrote and drew for 300 issues, and if the conditions are favourable; they might bestow upon you a free Cerebus comic so you can check out the work of this Dave Sim fellow and experience a part of the longest graphic novel ever!

Saturday night is the Glamourpuss event - dress up in your best glamourpuss duds (business attire please - you know, jacket, tie, nice duds!) and join Dave at the
Economy Shoe Shop, 9pm, Saturday, September 25th.

If you have any questions, get in touch with us at the Halifax store -

902-425-2140 or toll-free 1-866-6-COMICS
