Wizard has acquired Mid-Ohio-Con, a convention of 30 years vintage held annually in Columbus, Ohio. Rumors of the acquisition had been floating since the show was held a couple of weeks ago, but the transaction was not confirmed until Friday. The first show under Wizard management will be held October 22-23, 2011 in Columbus.

Man, Wizard is buying up cons left and right. I hope they leave Heroes Con alone, it is all comics. If Wizard gets it, the wrestlers will show up like a fly on $@#!

It surprises me that they're buying up cons at such a pace since it's only been, 2 yrs or so, since they killed a bunch of cons on their tour and everybody felt sure it was the death knell of the company.

Wizard will be the death of Mid-Ohio-Con if they actually increase the booth fees for dealers like they have proposed.

This years price for my two booths was $900 total which was way too much for a small two-day show.

Next year it has raised to $1000 per booth plus endcap fees which would make my booth space $2300-2500.

Are they on crack??

Almost every dealer I talked to at Mid-Ohio said there was no way they would do the show at those prices......I know I am out if they charge those fees.

I don't know what they are thinking trying to charge Chicago Con prices at small shows like Mid-Ohio-Con.......me thinks this will end poorly for Wizard if they go through with these fee hikes. Don't count on there even being a Mid-Ohio-Con next year if this is the case.......
