OT - My Dad has passed away!

Hi everyone,

My Dad passed away on Friday and I didn't find out about about it until I showed up at his nursing home late that afternoon. I left my home in Griffin around 11:00 heading for Jacksonville, FL to see him and to go to my Mom's family reunion. When I got to the nursing home they told me he passed away at 11:00 that morning!

This is the first I have been able to get online and I'm not sure if I will be able to again until I get home. Please keep my family and me in your thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear the bad news. I lost my dad last year and lost my mom just a few weeks ago. I completely understand the pain and frustration it brings. I'll be thinking of you and your family, and hope that you can all come together to cope with the loss.

Linda and James, Stacey and I are very sorry for your losses...we're thinking of you and hope you guys are okay. (as can be). I lost my dad just before I met Stacey but I try and remember the great times we had...it will get better in time...it just sucks.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Linda. Likewise for you, STL. Life is generally good until we lose one of our loved ones. Then it sucks.

I remember when my Dad died in 1989. It hit me really hard as I thought about him every single day for years thereafter. He grew up during the Depression and worked extremely hard to support our family before retiring in 1974. He was also very proud of being a WWII veteran. His funeral included an honor guard from nearby Fort Ord, CA, complete with a 21-gun salute. My Mom still has the flag.

There are things I never said to him because I kept putting it off. I like to think he is with me now and guiding me as I go about my daily life.
