Trouble gettng photoshop scans of slabbed books

I'm having trouble scanning my newly bought CGC & PGX books for this thread. I have a Dell scanner with photo shop 5 and I cannot get a good image. Any advice? And unless your willing to send me a photoshop upgrade...

Is it an all-in-one scanner (print/fax/scan/copy)?

It is a dell all in one 922.

Posting one of your bad scans might help us to detect what is the problem.

Something that might happen is that the outside light comes through the see-through case and so it doesn't scan that well. I suggest putting something like an empty pillow case over the scanner so no light can get in, see if that works for ya.
