Well, I just bought my first high priced GA book, an ALL AMERICAN COMICS #32 GREEN LANTERN FINE CGC 6.0, I got it for $400 (do you think I got a fair deal?) the highest regular copy on CGC and the 31st app. of GL anywhere. I've been really interested in the GA books for a while and would like to read more. Since I can't buy the books, I am interested in the reprints that come out in the form of the DC Archive and the Marvel GA reprint books. I also want to read early silver I can't afford and have bought the Marvel Masterworks Vol.1 of both FF and ASM, no DJ's,($10.49). I also just bought a nice limited ed. of the Gerber guides ($121.48) from neatstuff, and from another seller DC Archive Editions Batman Archives Vol. 1, 2, 3 ($36.50), and DC Archive Editions The Dark Knight Vol. 1 & 2 ($47.99), and am currently reading "The Comic Book Encyclopedia" by Ron Goulart. In general I am buying up books on the history of comics. In a way, I am preparing for my retirement, since I don't work for a company and hence have no retirement plan, being a comic dealer.
So what do y'all advise as far as books that help one to learn about the history of comic books.
As a 38 year old reader/collector of books who lives in a town where, until eBay, we didn't see too many older back issues, my reading history is mostly of bronze, copper and modern. So I have a lot of catching up to do.
