Anybody else thinks this could be a good? Trailers got me interested in going to see it on the big screen. I like monkeys.

Is this Planet of The Apes? If so I really enjoyed it.

Yep, looks good despite J. Franco being involved.

I may be dragged kicking and screaming to this one. I started out hating it because it entailed one of my pet peeves; a contemporary creator going back and trying to come up with an origin story where none is needed.

I really don't want to know how earth become simian-dominated. To me, it's more mysterious and enigmatic if we never know. And usually anything anyone comes up with is really unsatisfactory.

Remember when DC tried to claim there was some little hobgoblin that went around and was responsible for all their characters' powers? He caused lightning to hit Barry Allen's chemicals, he led Joe Chill to that dark alley etc. These retro origins are usually dismal failures and mess up a good existing storyline.

That said, the effects look good and secrets and friends want to go, so I'll probably see it. What the heck; I've earned a free pass through my local theater's frequent geek program.

(Did not care for the Mark Walberg remake much.)

I'll probably see it. Everybody I know thinks it looks horrible from the trailers, except me. Yeah, there may be too much CGI. Yeah, parts look goofy.

I can get past James Franco, but dude does kinda bug me a bit. I think he acts okay, but somehow the James Franco always shines through. Maybe that's me.

I can suspend disbelief pretty well, if they give me a good enough story.

But I could also just wait for Conan, and see Apes on video. Really looking forward to Conan.

Saw this yesterday. I was pretty pleased.

Good set-up, and nothing terribly weak. Looking forward to the next installment.

The CGI wasn't an issue for me at all. Looked better in the movie than it did in the trailer.

Didn't really like the Wahlberg one either. Loved this one.

Whenever I see Helena Bonham Carter in a movie, I get a mental picture of her from the Wahlberg Planet of the Apes. Not a good thing.

That first Ape movie remake didn't make sense. This one is fun. (hint:Root for the Apes.)

However, I always thought she was pretty cool.#love# Flaunting her disregard for Hollywood by wearing two shoes that do not match on the Red Carpet and taking the most unglamorous roles out there, even though she could be "glam." In Fight Club and Harry Potter for instance.

Like her "literary" period movies too.

But, to each his own.
