I finished the third Dune book last night and am on the fence about it... has anyone read the fourth book and if so what did you think?

I recall really liking these books when I was a kid.

Up until God Emperor.

Not sure if that's the 4th or 5th book. But I just couldn't work thru it to the end.

This series is on my list of things to read again now that i'm an adult to see if it holds up as well as when I was a kid.

It's been quite awhile and I don't remember a lot about it but I did like it over all.Being a hard scifi series it did get slow as I got into it.I've noticed this is one set that needs a little break between books. At least for me,when I read a long series like this I tend to get burn out after a while without a break.Same with comics, can't read a long series straight through.

I feel after the first, the next two are weaker. Two being my least favorite. 4 is a great book. Just try to get over the fact that Paul is not the savior everyone thinks him to be. There is a reason for everything the God-Emperor does. He finally, after thousands of years gets those damn witches on the right track.

There are worse things out there then the Bene Tleilax or the Bene Jeseret or the Guild or the Harkonon at their most terrible.

IMO 5 and 6 are the best. And the new two that come after 5 and 6(time-wise) are a great ending.
