Ok maybe this topic is of limited interest to you folks but the more I travel the more local comics and the more regional comics I'm seeing. In Argentina there was a comic called Condorito which was sold all over the place and now here in Japan there are hundreds and hundreds of manga titles (many of which way outsell anything sold in the American market) and even the guest houses I am in have selves of them as reading material.
I think it's pretty cool overall - especially when I see Superman painted onto a wall in an obscure town in Uruguay. Now it's Japan and I'm looking for Amrican heros and not finding many.

I looked for comics when I was in China but didn't find any. Maybe I was looking in the wrong places. But comics are big in Hong Kong. Mostly martial arts stuff.

I came across a ton of old DC's in spanish when I was in Montevideo... sadly my spanish isn't good enough to have read them and I didn't know if there is any sort of market for them on E-bay so I just wistfully looked at them and walked away.
