View Full Version : Round Whatever-it-is+one Of The Mind-bogglingly Obsessive Change One Letter Game!!!

WOW! What a Marathon that last Round was!
Hopefully this one will take less than three months to complete!
I'll spare the Hoopla and get right to the action.
You all know the Rules by now, newcomers can simply ask.
The Prize?
Well that would be telling, wouldn't it?
Sufffice it to say that at least one very sweet book will be up for grabs and if this Round turns out anything like the last Round, you may end up with a whole long-box, who knows?
So let's get to it. The Game begins folowing the word posted in my nest post.
Good luck!

Uh, Rowand....you changed two letters there, not one.
So if I use the word BRINK, current word should be BRINK with THINK eliminated from play, no?

Thanks, Evil Parsnip. I'm SHOCKed about that myself. It has been a long and embattled series of headaches, finger-twisting, head sweats, can't sleep good at night kind of game. Everyone played their hearts out.

jaeldubyoo
02-13-2007, 08:26 PM
They have in the past. Look at a lot of words we used. They are variations of the original word. Case in point: aeon=eon used in the last game. Aeon is listed as a variant of eon in the dictionary.

NAH, I was just quibbling to get a response! It's a win by me!
Just my luck I make an obviously foolish statement and you go all noble on me!
Nice win this!
JLW Biblical proper names should be disallowed as proper names. Biblical regular words like minion should be disallowed as furren!
SHELL, just in case!
rowand
02-13-2007, 09:09 PM
Since there is NO current change-one-letter game ongoing! A minor nitpick to the learned observations above.
Aeon and Eons should be allowed as different pluralities of the same word. Aeon and eon are of different lengths so wouldn't be valid entries in the same game. Same length plurals should also be OK as in Basis (sing.) and Bases (plural)
This round was WAY too short! Enjoyable, but too short!

A Plutus is just under 30 minutes! (1756 seconds)
I think it is a win, meself! Congrats JLW!!
Here are some possibles I have personally spiked on the Uh-Uh stick:
Shaul - a variant of the biblical name Saul or a grave or asked or lent
Whatt - an acronym for World Hospitality and Tourism Trends
Uhaul - a company name
Whaup-noun Scot.: a curlew or a large migratory shorebird of the sandpiper family; closely related to the woodcock but having a down-curved bill
Ahaul-the state of not currently hauling anything -- tush or otherwise
All wrong, wrong, wrong. PS if one or more is acceptable then they are my entry.

A bad boy with a valid entry! I'll take it. I had NO faith in the Scotish term for the curlew.
I don't seem to have any Corral Cash nor seperately any way of earning it! How will this work out? I am now glad that I didn't try any further joke entres at the $10CC per clip! Happy to pay for my transgressions -- just unsure how to do so.
PS It WAS a joke entry just waiting for JLW to be announced as winner! Who knew?

I searched high and low for a Non-Proper Noun usage of "shaul" on the other wurd reference wbsites and found nothing. The definition on the Dictionary.com site is from a Bible Dictionary, which often gives root forms and/or archaic sources for the Proper Noun in question, but is still purely a Proper Noun.
For instance, no matter how much I want the Proper Noun "Charlton" to mean "the end-all be-all of everybody's existence", it just ain't gonna happen (in my lifetime anyway).
Current wurd is still:
WHAAP
