Some of the Ziff- Davis mystery series have beautiful painted covers by someone named Saunders. I havd Ellery Queen 1 and 2, then this weekend I picked up this one:

Does anybody out there know more about Saunders, and how many more of his covers there are? I used to be infatuated with collecting Powell art, and quickly found there are hindreds of comics with his art. Saunders seems a bit tougher to find.

His name is Norman Saunders he did work on both covers and interiors for several Ziff-Davis books in the 50's and some other stuff for Dell and Globe. Here is what GCD has to say about what he did:

Doesn't look like he was very prolific.

I have some detective magazines and paperback covers by Norm Saunders. When I get a chance (when I find them), I'll post a few.

Hmm. My brother is a big time paperback mystery collector. I should ask him.
