Hoss, you timed the move well to coincide with free comic day.

Well, I skipped my local store and went to Hasting's because I knew there wouldn't be limits on how much you could take. Unfortunatly, there were no O'neil action figures, but I did make a pretty nice haul.

The most impressive was the Tokyopop Sneaks. It is a pretty thick book with three seperate stories. (Sea Princess Azuri, Mail Order Ninja, and Kat & Mouse) I have not read any of these before, but flipping through it, there appears to be pretty good artwork so I look forward to reading it.

I also picked up Bongo Comics which is the Simpsons comic. I have only read the first two stories, but they were fairly amusing.

They also had X-Men Runaways which is a really nice edition. Full color glossy pages.

Next we have Justice League Unlimited which looks too cartoony for me. I will check it out, but I am guessing its for a younger demographic than me.

From Dark Horse we get a double issue with one side being Conan and the other Star Wars. I am pretty sure I will not like either of these, but hey it was free so it is worth a read.

Image comics is actually doing a cool thing by giving you short little glimpses of upcoming storey lines in their Future Shock comic.

And we have Donald Duck which is a pretty good read.

Finally there is The Swarm! This Marvel title is actually a commercial in print form for M&M's. Interesting ploy, because it kind of looks interesting so I will probably read it.

Well that's my haul, I hope everyone else did as well or better.

We were limited to just one :(. I snagged the Donald Duck comic. I read the first story and it was pretty good.

Can't go wrong with free comics!

I got four: Batman Adventures, X-Men, Donald, and 2 Stray Bullets (by mistake, thought 1 was Barry Weem). Even better, found a copy of Addams Family #1 for $8 in the back issues section. Severely undergraded as G, it's a solid VG. Woo Hoo!

My LCS was stingy! Only one comic per customer! I wanted to try out a few things but could only pick one.....Oh well.

Linda,
you're more than welcome to the Stray Bullets and X-Men. Send me an address if you want em.

Limited to only one?? Maybe one per title or company is OK, but just one per client is too little! Cheapos!

I collect Justice League Unlimited comics, they are great. Much like the cartoon series, this is not really intended for kids only, but you can expect them to be free of "blood & guts."

I missed out. Actually, I went to my LCS early at a little after 10:00am and was told they just opened early to set up and their FCBD promotion wouldn't start until 11:00. Well, I had my baby girl with me so I had to leave and never got the chance to go back. Did I miss anything really good?

I didn't get any Free Comics because I always go to the Comic Shop on Wednesdays. In fact, I'm not even sure if my LCS participated in FCBD. I am hopeful however that when I get my monthly shipment from Discount Comic Book Service, that they will have included a few freebies along with my order. :o

The only limit my LCS had was one copy of each title per family member, which I thought was quite fair. Some of the LCS rules I read above seem pretty damn stupid. Let's see. I own a funny book store. We pick one day out of the year to promote this hobby to families walking in off the street. Let's be as stingy as possible. That oughtta grow my business.

I picked up the X-Men and the E.C. compilation for myself and the Archie, Donald Duck and another book that escapes me at the moment for my 4-year-old daughter. Plus one other book that I also forget because I wound up with 6 books.

The LCS also had a 50% off back issues and toys sale. The back issue area was crowded and I didn't see anything interesting anyways. Heck, I've seen this backstock a hundred times. The toy area was practically abandoned.

My daughter picked out a little Ace Frehley plush. Why? Beats me, but it was only 2 bucks. I got a new in box Corgi James Bond Aston Martin from 1973, a new on the card Empire Strikes Back Snowspeeder from 1980 and a new in the box Mego 12 1/2 inch Spider-Man all for 125 bucks. Checking eBay completed auctions, I made out like a bandit.

To follow up on a couple posts ago, I found this completed auction. The price was helped by having the accesories shown in the last picture. I didn't think the one I got had them, but I just opened the box, and sure enough, there they were, untouched, in a little envelope. This turned out to be the best non-eBay find I've had in a while.

I had my LCS to hold the free X-Men book. I'll pick it up this week, I'll check to see if they'll let me have any "extras" if anyone's interested. I'll post it here.

My local had organized a bunch of Star Wars cosplay folks to come out for part of the day. Was cool to see. The Jedi person was clearly regretting bring the Master Replica full blade lightsaber as she had to carry them the whole time she was out.

lol

It was certainly the busiests I've ever seen my store on a day that wasn't a big sale day but I don't know how much of it was actual new customers or people bring in friends or just regulars showing up for the free books.

None of the books grabbed me so I just asked for the Iron Man clix.
